Dear Staff,
Here is some food for thought for the summer.
Memories:
We had a wonderful, productive and effective year! Think about all this progress: WIGS, leadership opportunities, finding your voice, intentional seat-work, DOK levels, intervention success and 26 graduates, empowered staff, better respect for noon duties, Gold Ribbon Award, Leadership Day, student led conferences, clubs, technology, deeper understanding of CCSS and DII and over all a healthier school climate and culture. I am so proud of all our work. It is a pleasure being a part of something so great.
Homework:
Think about our homework plan and discussion as you read Anthony Muhammad's book. We must seriously consider plans that take into consideration home lives and poverty. Let's help our children feel more successful. We do not want to punish them for not doing or not knowing how to do homework. Use Dreambox, Lexia, AR or a simple project as homework ideas. Focus on quality and personalization and not collecting, grading or disciplining. This is a social justice issue. I have attached two articles for review. The research supports our thoughts.
Moves:
Here is a run down of the moves.
32 is now K-3 Learning Center
33 is now ASES Palomar, art and band
34 is now Counseling and School Psy
51 is now 3rd
35 and 26 are primary and upper grade classroom expansion
Room 1 is the Innovation Lab
lounge is now also our PD room
45 is the new work room
I think you will like it.

You might want to pick up over the summer as they won't be ordered by the site.
colored pencils
blue tape
3X5 index

dividers
colored markers
class sets of scissors
different size post-its
golf pencils

Look for great sales.
Innovation Lab Needs:
Please save crafty items this summer to supply our lab with. Things like...styrofoam, bread tags, craft sticks, bubble wrap, pom poms, string, spices, soil, seeds, card board, paper towel tubes...If you think it can be used to build with, save it.
You may come in on or after 8/8 but not before. The cleaning crew needs the entire summer to clean.
See ya then!
Enjoy!
