Principal's Message
Dear RHES Families,
Thank you for all that you have done to help ease the transition to new schedules, drop off/pick up routines and school procedures. We couldn’t do it without you!
Remember, the hours for school (whether in person or online) are:
8:45-11:15 and 12:55-3:25
If you are dropping off or picking up students TK-2, in the front loop, there will be several staff members there to help get your student either from or to the car. You do NOT need to get out of the car. If you want to get out of the car to walk your child to their gate, you can park in the lot or on the street and do so. Our staff members are acting as “valet” and will help wave cars all the way forward and assist students. This will streamline the process for maximum effectiveness, so that you do not need to wait in long lines. In addition, if you come past the 3rd-5th loop, and are waiting in line, please be mindful of the cars entering/exiting that loop and leave a space to let them in/out.
As we get closer to the end of the year, keep up the great work! Your positive attitudes, outlook and modeling of grace for your children are the most important gifts you can give them! You are appreciated!

Tips to reduce Stress
As we return from spring break and your students continue to adjust to all the changes, they may experience some stress. The stress may attribute to changes in their attitude, behavior, and emotions. Here are some tips to help your students manage stress.
- Acknowledge your child’s stress and let them know you understand that change can be hard.
- Develop trust, and let you students know that mistakes are learning experiences.
- Be supportive and listen to your student's concerns. Allow your student to try to solve his or her own problems, if appropriate. But offer to help and be available to your child when he or she needs you.
- Validate their feelings. Tell your student about the importance of school and doing their best, even when it’s hard or they don’t want to.
- Talk about stresses they can control vs. stresses they can’t. Write them down and throw away the ones they cannot change (rip them up, crumple them to a ball and throw them in the trash).
- Help your child develop a growth mindset and positive self-talk habits. When they’re stressed, they can begin to talk themselves through it – “I can do this,”I am good at this,” “I’ve gotten through this before,” or “I’ll try my best.
- Provide them with some control. Allow your student to make choices within your family framework. For example, allow them to arrange their rooms, choose family activities, and help make family decisions
- Exercise. Regular exercise is one of the best ways to manage stress. For children, this means activities like walking, bike-riding, outdoor play, and individual and group sports.
- Write or draw. Older children often find it helpful to write about the things that are bothering them. Younger children may be helped by drawing about those things.
- Invite your student to talk, laugh, cry, and express anger when he or she needs to.
