Viewing Google files in itslearning
Now, when you add a Google file as a File to a course in itslearning (Resources > find the right folder > Add > File or folder > Add files > Google Drive), the file is added in a large viewing window, allowing you to see much of the file at a glance. Additionally, to the right of the file, you will also see a button to pop the file out into a new tab, giving you the full Google experience.
Similarly, when students submit a Google file to an Assignment (whether through the integration or not), that big blue window is gone, allowing you to actually read what students have submitted. The pop-out button is still to the right, allowing you to quickly and easily edit or comment on their work.
If you haven't been trying the Google integration in an Assignment because of the blue box, now's a perfect time to give it a shot! Remember, if you'd like me to come out to work with you on how to include this as part of a blended learning experience, just let me know!
Online Sorting Activity using Flippity
Just recently, they added a template making it super-easy to create an online click-and-drag activity. It doesn't check the answers for you, so you would want to do it in class or ask students to both sort AND explain what the categories are.
You can see an example activity here (notice the gear at the bottom where you can change different settings) and get the template at the Flippity website.
Rain, rain, go away
We Are Teachers recently published an article titled "14 Ways to Brighten Your Classroom During the Dreary Winter Months." My favorite is pictured here (the paint can rainbow)! Other ideas listed include stringing fairy lights, adding plants, and just smiling (think Buddy the Elf - Smiling's my favorite!).
Check out their list above and then let me know how you brighten your day when it's gray and gloomy.
