4th Grade News

Week of April 4th

Next week, we will begin Stanford testing. We ask that you please have your child to school by 8:05 a.m. every day next week. It is important that the students get to bed early, get a good night's rest, and eat a healthy breakfast each morning. If your child is nervous about the testing or is likely to experience anxiety during the test, help him/her practice some relaxation techniques that he/she can try once they are taking the test.

We have re-scheduled our field trip to City Park for April 21, 2016. Look for more information in the next newsletter.

A big congratulations to Pete Metzinger who will advance on to the Academic Games National Competition. Please click on the link below to see the article about Pete in the Advocate. We are so proud of you!

Social Studies

On Thursday Mrs. Sontag and Mr. Armstrong's homerooms completed a Mind Mission entitled "Ship Sunk". They learned about the Continental Navy and John Paul Jones by working in groups, using a bag of materials to construct a ship as strong as the Bonhomme Richard. After testing their ships for buoyancy, they poured water over the ships to demonstrate how much damage they could sustain from cannon fire before capsizing.
