CHESTER - A Community that CARES
Thank you to our CHESTER VACCINE ANGELS...
We wanted to take this opportunity to share our profound gratitude to Chester's Vaccine Angels! A wonderful group of dedicated volunteers on Facebook that spent a great deal of time finding vaccine appointments for our teachers. To date, many of our teachers have been vaccinated as a result of their kind and thoughtful efforts to help us all stay well and get back to school. This group of helpers led by Facebook administrators Heather Hearon, Heather McCarthy and Simone Campbell also organized vaccine appointments for senior citizens in town. What an incredible way to help keep our community healthy and safe. Thank you so very much to you all!
Thank you for our PETALS OF GRATITUDE IN CHESTER...
We also wanted to take this opportunity to share our deep gratitude to Chester parent Maria Gray who began a special program called Petals of Gratitude in Chester in honor of her father-in-law. Mrs. Gray began her program on Facebook as well and called for nominations for people who live or work in Chester to receive floral arrangements to let them know that they are special. We were pleasantly surprised when administrators and faculty members in the Chester School District were nominated and received these beautiful flowers. They certainly brought smiles to all of our faces and we are truly grateful to those who nominated us and to Mrs. Gray for delivering these beautiful bouquets!

Read Across America Week at Dickerson School
The first week of March, Dickerson School joined in Read Across America Week by celebrating diverse readers and focusing on inclusive topics written by various authors! Co-chairs Nicole Healy and Francesca Ragonese planned a special week for virtual and in-person students to participate in many fun literacy-based activities. Everyone had a great time participating in the Reading Challenge, winning prizes, StoryWalk around the school, and Literacy Spirit Days to get the children excited about reading new books. For more information on this year’s central focus, modeled after the NEA’s year-long initiative, visit http://bit.ly/NEAreadacrossamerica.

BRMS 6th Grader Maya Vinu Wins Pitch NJ Business Boot Camp - Shark Tank!
BRMS 6th grader, Maya Vinu won the Pitch NJ Business Boot Camp - Shark Tank! Pitch New Jersey is a teen entrepreneurship competition where students create a proposal for an idea or entrepreneurial venture. If the proposal is selected from the first round then the finalists get to present and pitch the idea infront of industry professionals, venture capitalists and local entrepreneurs for a chance to win $1500.
Maya was the youngest participant, competing in the finals alongside high school students. Maya's business is called Fetch by Maya where she makes 100% human grade dog treats. Dr. Van Woert purchased them and can happily report that her two dogs thoroughly enjoyed them! Maya and her parents donated her profits of $250.00 to the Eleventh Hour Rescue to support rescue dogs in need of a home. Way to go Maya! Everyone in Chester is so proud of you!

Chester PTO and the Educational Foundation of the Chesters
The Chester PTO and the Educational Foundation of the Chesters remain two of the most essential elements of the Chester School District for their continued support of our students and faculty. In essence, so many of our most engaging enrichment activities and many of our foundational programs come directly from their support. This includes athletic and club stipends for our teachers, cultural arts programs, school supplies and materials.
I urge you to support and join both of these worthwhile organizations. We are so grateful for their funding and for the many opportunities they provide our students, such as those listed above. More information about joining the PTO and the Educational Foundation can be found on our homepage under the Parents tab.
