Welcome Back!
This month at South your student will be taking their Middle of the Year (MOY) NWEA benchmarks - these will show us their growth so far in Reading, Math, and Language. From there, we will continue to work hard with your student to help them reach their academic goals!
We would love to partner with you throughout the spring semester - please feel free to contact your child's teachers to find out how they are progressing! Our teachers are happy to meet with you to discuss your child's needs, so I encourage you to schedule a spring conference with them! Our teachers might even be able to offer you some ideas on how you can help your child be successful at school!
Did you know?
Last year at South, we implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior Support Interventions and Supports). The purpose of school-wide PBIS is to establish a climate at South in which appropriate behavior is the norm. Each six weeks, teachers choose a student from their classroom who has shown extraordinary success in the following areas: being safe, being responsible, or being respectful. We hold PBIS assemblies each six weeks, and the students chosen by their teachers are recognized at this assembly. Parents are invited to attend, along with the rest of the student body.
Students have another opportunity be recognized, and this is through our Principal's 100 Club! As teachers and staff notice student behavior being extraordinary (again in the areas of being safe, responsible, and being respectful), they can send that student to the office to put their name on the Principal's 100 Club board which is is located in the hallway by the front office. The student then brings a postcard home from the teacher to show off their good behavior to their parents! Once we have a "bingo" (which is a row filled) on the board, those students are invited to have lunch with me (the principal) in my office! The kids LOVE it and it is so fun for me to spend that time with them!
We have a variety of other ways we motivate and reward our students, but these two are our big ways!
Welcome Ms. Belt!
Giving Back!
Attendance Matters!
Being at school is FUN! We have a drawing each six weeks to give away bikes to students who are present at school every day! We randomly draw a boy and a girl from each grade level with perfect attendance!
New Lunch Times

2nd Grade 11:30--12:00
