School Vacation Events and Programs
Monday, April 18, 1 pm, Glocester Manton Library
Ages 5-6 are invited to meet with a live owl during this fun, educational, and interactive Audubon program. Learn about the different types of owls that live in Rhode Island, their basic ecology, and their unique adaptations.
Egg-Cellent Eggs with the Ocean State Animal Coalition
Tuesday, April 19, 10 am, Harmony Library
Ocean State Animal Coalition has created an interactive program for young learners, ages 3-6, that will provide them with the tools to identify which animals lay eggs and which ones do not. This presentation is complete with a display of eggs and is accompanied by a small, live animal.
Cook-a-Book
Wednesday, April 20, 11 am, Glocester Manton Library
Children, grades K-2, are invited to listen to the book, "Tales for Very Picky Eaters," and create a craft they can eat!
Eric Herman's "Cool Tunes for Kids" Concert
Thursday, April 21, 10 am, Harmony Library
His songs and videos have been featured nationally on the Today Show, PBS Kids, Fox & Friends, XM Radio, and even in a Warner Bros. film. Don't miss this concert bursting with comedy, creativity, audience participation, and outrageously fun songs. This show is for children of all ages and their families.
Earth Day Project: Plant the town's pansies with Miss Robin from Bally Duff Farm
Friday, April 22, 11 am, Glocester Manton Library
Children in grades 1-5 are invited to help farmer Robin beautify both the Glocester Manton Library and the Town Hall entrances by planting flower pots with an assortment of pansies. Miss Robin will talk about life on her farm, her greenhouse, and help the children hone their gardening skills.

Mondays, April 4 - May 23, 10:30 am, Glocester Manton Library
This is process-based, open ended art for your preschooler, ages 3-1/2 to 5, focusing on famous artists such as Pablo Picasso during his Blue and Red Periods, splatter painting like Jackson Pollock, and feet painting like Kazuo Shiraga.
After School Art: Recycled Art
Wednesdays, April 13 - May 25, 4:30 pm, Glocester Manton Library
Children in grades K-5 will create a project each week using recycled materials, including bottle cap art and recycled book art.
Tweens and Teen Programs
Saturday, April 16, 4 pm, Harmony Library
Grades 6-12 are invited to have the library to themselves during our after hours movie event. Watch "The Force Awakens" on the big screen and enjoy a pizza dinner with your friends.
April Vacation "Adult" Teen Coloring
Monday - Wednesday, April 18, 19, and 20, 2 pm, Harmony Library
In addition to being fun, grown-up coloring has been shown to reduce stress and increase relaxation. Grades 6-12 are invited to hang out in the teen area and try it out. We'll use "Prismacolor" artist pencils and a variety of books, including Lost Ocean, Dapper Animals, Star Wars, and Day of the Dead.

Special Notice: The Harmony Library recently traded in its old Nooks for two of the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 4Nook devices. Patrons can borrow a device for three weeks and read the latest bestsellers. Try out the Nook for a future purchase and enjoy a variety of apps.

Cookbook Club

This month's selection is More Mexican Everyday: Simple, Seasonal, Celebratory by Rick Bayless. The club works this way: every month - pick up a copy of that month's cookbook selection at the library. Choose a recipe to make and prepare it for the meeting. We will sample and discuss our cooking experiences. If you would like to join the Cookbook Club, drop by the library to pick up a copy of the book. Registration is required. Solar Energy Basics

Mark Durrenberger of New England Clean Energy will give a presentation on solar energy basics. If you have ever wondered how to get started with solar conversion, this is the program for you. Learn how to evaluate your roof for solar, get information on policies and Rhode Island regulations, and find out how to make a cost comparison.

Join like-minded folks who wish to explore the art of writing. Each meeting will involve writing exercises to expand your writing skills.
Memoir Writers Group

Participants develop their writing skills by reading published memoirs, writing short essays, and sharing their writing with the group, led by Writing Coach Pat Kenny. Writers are encouraged to attend one meeting to see if the group is a good match for their writing goals.
