Wiggin Street Parent Update
August 9, 2021
We have lots of new faces which is unusual at Wiggin Street, but it's bringing a new energy to the building. I've included pictures and bios of our new staff members in this update. Also Lisa Parker has moved from her 4th grade teaching position to our Grades 3-5 Reading Specialist position.
This is probably the longest parent update that you will receive this school year, but it's packed with lots of information to help you and your child have a successful start to the school year. Thank you for trusting us with your children each day, and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to getting to know you all better.
Have a great rest of your summer!

I have three dogs named Coco, Finley, and Winnie. They always keep me on my toes and make every day enjoyable! Some of my favorite things I do in my free time are craft, bake, and take my dogs to the dog park! When I get the chance, I love to travel. One of my favorite places I’ve been so far is Paris, France!

My name is Suzy Springer. I am stepping into the role of music teacher at Wiggin Street and Pleasant Street this fall. I’m excited return to the district as a teacher. I received my teaching degree from Mount Union College ( Alliance, OH) and have 10 years of public teaching under my belt.
My husband teaches orchestra at MVHS and we have three children: Emily(16), Madeline (13), and Benjamin(8).
Our teachers are busy getting their rooms ready to greet students at our Open House on August 17th 6:00-7:30pm. This will be an informal meet and greet and opportunity for students to bring in their supplies. I will be available outside the office and look forward to meeting you, so please stop by to say hello. There will not be a formal meeting in the gym this year.
Pick Up and Drop Off
For pick up, please do not arrive until 3:30. There is no stopping, standing, or parking on E. Brooklyn St. allowed, and you will be ticketed. Also, our school is an Idle-free zone. So, please protect our children and the community by turning off your engine.
Children need to be picked up by 3:45. We appreciate your cooperation and efforts to help this process run smoothly. Thank you!
You can send a note with your child to the office in the morning if there is a change in their pick up routine. Sometimes changes are necessary during the school day for pick up. If you have a change in the way your child needs to go home, it is preferred that you send an email to your child's teacher and Anne, our secretary, at email@example.com. Phone calls must be made to the office before 2:00 pm if needed, so the change can be communicated.

There is still time to get some reading in and don't forget to send us pictures of your child reading for the Summer Reading assembly slideshow! Please email them to Anne @ firstname.lastname@example.org or myself @ email@example.com.
Information and the reading log is attached, and there are extra reading logs available in the Little Free Library in front of the school, along with many good books to read! Please feel free to take a book home to read or donate!
Please keep track of your child's reading using the log, and reading logs need to be turned in at the start of the 2021-22 school year. Wiggin Street School will also reward our summer readers who meet their "Gold" level with a special Water Fun Day, an afternoon of exciting water games during the school day!
