D200 Weather Related Delayed Start
District 200 has decided to use the two-hour delayed start policy during the 2019-2020 school year. Families will be notified in the same manner as a school cancellation. Emergency days taken with the two-hour delay as opposed to cancelling a full day will not be made up at the end of the school year.
Buses will pick up 2 hours late than normally scheduled pick-ups. Greenwood classes will begin at 9:30 on weather delayed days.
A winter reminder from the nurse
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The winter months have arrived and it is important to ensure that your child stays warm while waiting for the school bus, during recess and playing outside. Being exposed to cold weather for long periods of time can reduce the sensation to cold, increasing the risk of hypothermia and frostbite.
To ensure that your child stays safe this winter season, here are some simple measures to help keep them safe and warm.
Wear mittens and boots – Make sure boots and mittens fit properly and are waterproof to keep out snow. Wet, damp clothes pull body heat away from the body, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
Dress in layers- Windproof and waterproof clothing provide the best protection against the elements. Layers help trap the body heat in, keeping the body warm. Loose layers are better; your child can run and play without restricting movement
Wear hats and scarves- Make sure to cover your child’s head, neck and face. Up to half the body’s heat can escape from not covering the head properly.
Water- It is very important to continue drinking plenty of fluids. During the winter months we feel less thirsty and can become dehydrated.
Have a fun filled winter season and remember to dress your child appropriately to keep them safe and warm.

BAND NEWS from Mrs. Schweihs-
AWESOME CONCERT & OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR A SHORT WINDOW OF TIME
CONGRATULATIONS to the band students on an outstanding Winter Concert! Our normal schedule has resumed, and we will be continuing our journey of learning about music and our instruments, building our individual and team skills! I'm excited for our year ahead
If there are any 5th graders that would like the opportunity to join band, this time of year would be a great opportunity to jump in, before we are close to concert season again. Parents of interested students should reach out to Mrs. Schweihs soon by email (dschweihs@wcusd200.org)!
