Principal's Update:

Hello Vista Academy Families,

This season is a gentle reminder to have gratitude and express our appreciation. Vista Academy is such a diverse community of families and individuals and I am so appreciative for every student, staff member, and community partner that makes our school the special place that it is. You can feel the “family” in the culture at our school and we do not take that for granted. As you all spend some time with your loved ones this next week, please know that your Vista Academy family is grateful for each and every one of you. Enjoy your fall break, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, November 29.

Fall Break is November 22-26, enjoy the time with your families. School resumes on November 29th.

Monthly Bagels with Benjie (Rescheduled to Friday, December 3 - 9:00 a.m.):

We understand that families are preparing for the holiday season and due to the low number of participants we will be rescheduling to December 3rd. We will be sharing our IB Evaluation Visit results and reviewing our Title 1 school-wide program. https://vistausd.zoom.us/j/94400444528

No Place for Hate:

Vista Academy will be participating in No Place for Hate®, a national program supporting schools in their commitment to celebrating diversity, promoting respect for differences and challenging bias and bullying at all levels.

Take the pledge with your student(s) and practice No Place for Hate at home. For family resources on challenging bullying and bias, visit https://www.adl.org/education-and-resources/resources-for-educators-parents-families.

With your help, we will make our school community a safe and welcoming space for all.

Playground Behavior:

The level of excitement and energy is highest at recess time. We are working on implementing new rules and regulations to help our students socialize appropriately while keeping them safe at recess times. Occasionally a student who is not following the guidelines will be asked to sit out from an activity or play somewhere else. We always use restorative practices and your child will have an opportunity to play again after the behavior is safe and respectful.
