In the Athens boys receive more education than girls do. The Girls do not need as Much Education Because The Girls Don't Have have many Jobs. Athenian women could not serve in any part of the city's government, including the assembly and juries, leave their homes, except on special occasions, buy anything or own property, or disobey. Boys were taught to read, speak,and think properly. Some boys were required to memorize long passages of plays or poems. Athens government is Democratic.

The Peloponnese War

The Athenian control of the Delian League, the vast naval alliance that allowed it to dominate the Mediterranean Sea. The growth of Athenian power worried many cities in the Peloponnesian League. Finally, to stop growth they declared war. Peloponnese War is a war between Sparta and Athens that threatened to tear all of Greece apart. With the defeat of Athens, Sparta became the most powerful city-state in Greece.
