Principal Notes 11/13/2015
St. Cecilia School
Notes from the Principal
Passport to Kindergarten
Tuesday, November 17th from 5-6 p.m.
Join us for a fun open house where you and your 4-or-5-year-old can discover the unique benefits of a St. Cecilia School education. Children will collect stamps in their ‘passports,’ make crafts, and enjoy snacks as you learn more about our kindergarten teachers, curriculum, technology, Family School Association, tuition assistance and much more. We hope to see you there!
Fifth Grade Reception
On November 18th, the fifth grade will be planning and serving in the various roles for Mass. Following Mass, they will host a coffee for parents, parish members and other friends in the social hall. Please join us for this special Mass for the 5th grade. We appreciate having the families join us any Wednesday, but hopefully a few more can make it in for this special fifth grade day at Mass. The other classes will be planning and participating at a Mass during the year. All are welcome!
Mass on December 8th
A reminder that December 8th is a day of obligation for Catholics in the Archdiocese. We will be moving our weekly Mass to that Tuesday, December 8th, at 9 a.m. and not have a school mass on Wednesday, December 9th.
St. Cecilia Feast Day Celebration
Just a reminder to come join us on St. Cecilia Feast Day Celebration on November 14th and 15th. There will be a Carnival of Saints, walking tacos, B-I-N-G-O and other games. Please see the church bulletin and attached flyer for more information.

Once a month each class will be sponsoring the all-school Mass and reception following Mass. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help get the reception set-up and help the class that is sponsoring it. Basically you would just show up for Mass about 20 minutes early - stop by the office where Lois and Tilda will have everything ready for you take to the social hall to set up and get the coffee started. After Mass, you can help serve the cookies and drinks and clean-up after the reception. You probably don't want to sign-up to help at the Mass that your child is sponsoring because you will be invited to attend the reception with them. If you are interested in helping with one (or more!) of these receptions, please sign up at the following site:
5th Grade Pancake Breakfast
A Pancake Breakfast served by the St. Cecilia 5th Grade Class will be held following the Sunday Masses on November 22nd during the Christmas Market. The pancake breakfast is a fundraiser to support the 5th grade parent-sponsored end-of-year class trip.
We will not be placing a SCRIP order the week of 11/23 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. If you would like to order extra cards to get through, please do so on Mon November 16. We will be processing Scrip orders again on November 30.
If you have any questions about Scrip, please contact Bev Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mark your calendar for our first Family Math Night on Thursday, December 3rd from 6:30 – 8:00! Bring your family for a night filled with math activities. We will have different stations for problem solving, technology, geometry and more! There will also be a station for parents to come and learn about our math program. We hope to see you there!
