Curriculum This Week

Reading:

"Unbreakable Code"

Reading Skill: Identify author's perspective

Reading Skill: Identify the theme of a reading selection

Reading Strategy: Use visualization to aid in comprehension

Vocabulary: Use context clues to determine word meaning


Math:

  • Draw strip diagrams and write an equation
  • Create and identify models for dividing decimals
  • Use standard algorithm for dividing decimals

MATH TEST: January 28

Multiplying and dividing decimals; multiplying and dividing fractions

Science

  • Explore the processes that led to formation of sedimentary rocks
  • Identify fossils as evidence of past living organisms and the nature of their environment at the time

SCIENCE TEST: January 20

6th Grade

Please refer to the calendar below to help understand the timeline. The Haggard counselors will be here next week to talk to the students about registering for middle school. Then, the following week, we will go to Haggard to listen to the opportunities that are available for music selections. Then, the following week, the Haggard counselors will be back at Wells to help students register for 6th grade.


There have been a few questions about math courses - Honors Math in particular. Unfortunately, the criteria has not yet been set; therefore all students will register for regular 6th grade math. Once the Honors Math criteria has been set, the counselors will then adjust the schedules as necessary.
