Taft High School
weekly update 9/24/2021
Raider Families,
Construction update: although we are not 100% done with construction, I am happy to announce that the front main entrance to our campus will be open beginning the evening of September 29th. This is just in time for our open house. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Marti Fernandez
Taft High School Principal
OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION
OPEN HOUSE WILL BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 29TH
We are asking our families to visit during the designated hour that corresponds to their student's last name. Open House is a time to meet teachers and receive important information pertaining to each subject. If you would like a parent/teacher conference, please schedule one with the teacher at a different time as we want our teachers to be able to visit with all families.

UNITED YEARBOOK
We are living through historic times and the best way to remember everything that happens this school year is by purchasing a yearbook. Yearbooks are on sale now through the end of the year, but if you want the cheapest price of $70 and FOUR FREE ENGRAVED ICONS ON YOUR COVER you need to order by Friday, October 15. The price increases to $75 on October 16 and then to $80 on January 29th. Orders are done through JostensYearbooks.com
If you ordered last year’s and have not picked it up, we will be delivering those to students next few weeks or you can contact Mr. Kohlmann at Taft to arrange pick up sooner. If you did NOT order last year’s, but would like to purchase one, we still have some available for purchase for $80 or you can purchase a package deal of last year's and this year's yearbook at $120. That's a $30 savings.
Please note: Yearbooks include both Taft and Comm Arts
HOMECOMING
Support teachers during NEF Annual Giving Campaign
The Northside Education Foundation (NEF) kicked off its Annual Giving Campaign on Sept. 2 allowing the community to support teachers with a donation. For more than 25 years and $8 million in awards, fundraisers like this campaign have helped countless Northside ISD teachers utilize new teacher methods and inspire student success. Whether it’s a book vending machine or a traveling planetarium, NEF stands side-by-side with educators to help students thrive.
Help our campus win a $150 grant by texting NEFFAN to 41444 and donate. Learn more about NEF at nisd.net/community/nef and watch NEF board members and supporters surprise grant recipients in this year’s campaign video.
COVID UPDATES
Here is this week's letter communicating positive COVID cases of individuals who have been on our campus. We are sanitizing classrooms, cafeteria, locker rooms and high traffic areas on a daily basis. As always student and staff safety is our number one priority. Please know that contact tracing is done each time there is a positive case and students and staff who are deemed in close contact for each case are notified immediately.
Our Students are the very Best!
