Did you know???
Love Divine All Loves Excelling was written by Charles Wesley and performed at the Royal wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate.
The tune to "Gift of Love" is also in a folksong called "The Water is Wide." The tune is called "O Wally Wally" and has been set for Orchestra and Band.
"Lord I Want to Be A Christian" is an African American spiritual that originated in Virginia in the 18th Century.
Now you know....
Communion This Sunday
August Plan for CHOIR
- There are seven places for music during a service: 3 hymns, Introit, Gloria Patri, Doxolgy, Introit and Offertory. These can individually be led with soloists or a duet.
- The singer's music will be selected based on the singers' comfort level and the number of singers on a given Sunday
- I need to know who is involved ahead of time to prepare the music equitably.
- A weekly survey of some sort will go out to determine who will be singing which pieces and can accommodate the changing availability and comfort level of the singers.
- Singers would sit distanced in the congregation when not singing or waiting to sing.
- We will still pull from music in the United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing.
- The music will be led by soloists or a duet, with one person singing the melody and one person adding a harmony, however, both can sing unison on the congregational pieces.
- There should be no more than four people in the loft at a time with no more than two singing at the mic at a time.
- I am available to either rehearse on Wednesday night in shifts and distanced across the choir room, or I can make recordings and rehearse Sunday morning distanced in the Sanctuary.
- This has the potential to evolve into larger ensembles, such as quartets or quintets, but will start off small.
August Plan for Handbells
- We will play in a handbell ensemble on stands with a minimum of 4 ringers.
- We will be spaced out in the choir room for rehearsal and in the Sanctuary for worship and use masks.
- We will play on music stands with music that does not involve turning pages or bell changes.
- The songs will be short and used as Interlude, Introit and Offertory.
- We will rehearse on Wednesday evening, unless a different day would be more accessible to more ringers.
- This could evolve every month with the potential to go back to two octaves with the tables repositioned across the Chancel and choir loft.
Prayer Concerns
- The Lusk Family:Shirley and David have Covid, Becky starts cancer treatments
- Lynn's Friend Erica: Her best friend passed away and the next night, her cousin was murdered
