St. John Academy 2019
last notes for building a dream
Read-a-thon and Annual Fund
Dear Parents,
Your children will be bringing home today packets for a Read-a-thon. This reading event will jump start the summer reading effort and begin to close our Annual Fund and fundraising efforts for this academic year.
Summer reading assignments will be sent out by next Wednesday. Christine White will be in touch about the Read-a-thon, which begins the same day.
Our Annual Fund efforts will close at the end of June. The last notes will be the Read-a-thon, and then we will finish with on-line bidding for such cherished things as front-of-the-line pick up spaces!
While next year will see an Annual Fund effort in a more traditional sense, this year's nature of transition and transformation required a different approach. I am pleased to announce that so far we have raised above $100,000! This is a testament to our generous families and community, and to many others who believe in the dream and mission of St. John Academy and wish to help build it.
Some of these gifts are targeted for specific needs such as new books, most of these gifts help us off-set two primary drivers for our annual budget and foundations for the school: faculty compensation and scholarships.
The Annual Fund gifts are in addition to the $26,000 + (net) raised by Christmas Tree sales and Trunk or Treat, and the over $80,000 (net) raised by the beautiful Spring Dream Garden Party.
Our deepest thanks to our talented and generous co-chairs, Debra Lindsay and Brooke Stanton, who did such a remarkable job bringing the night to life. And special thanks to those who helped in so many ways, such as our development director, Maricel Heeter, and Fran Cox, and many others.
The dream of St. John Academy is alive and growing!
Kind regards,
Jeff
