6th Annual FLY-IN, CRUISE-IN was a HUGE SUCCESS!
Message from Jeff and Yolanda
The Fly-In, Cruise-in had a record breaking crowd with well over 3,500 people in attendance and over 233 cars and a variety of airplanes on display including WWII aircraft. This year the event was held a month earlier, stayed open longer, and had great support from the auto clubs, aviation enthusiast, businesses and the community. Of course the event would not be possible without the planning committee who under the leadership of Belynda Williams, Jack Izbicki and Tony Singleton spent months organizing the event from securing sponsorships to reaching out to car clubs and aircraft owners to display their cars and planes. A huge thank you to Rick Ponton, Lionel L'Esperance, Joann Cassio, Jerry Soffin, Geri Leonard, Tim Hall, Carolyn Casserly, Darlene Crete, Chris Fowler, Jean Cardarelli, Olivia Ralston, Sam Green, Angie Imbriale, Cynthia Murin, Bob Mullaly (Corvette Club), Glen Scholl (Car Club), Raul Estrada (Airport), Ryan Frost (Airport), Tom DiBernardo (Civil Air Patrol) and Roland Stoddard (volunteer). Also thank you to Kirk Jervis for printing the signage.
On Saturday all their hard work paid off when at 5:00 a.m. volunteers from LWTC, LWTHS and Adult Education started arriving to prepare for the big day. Close to 200 volunteers were checked in by Jonah Nicosia and Mark Frehe and sent off to help park cars, serve pancakes, clean tables, pick up trash, etc. By 8:00 a.m., Lionel L'Esperance, Israel Cabrera, Bruce Rutila, Joseph Martino and Lazaro Hernandez and students were ready to direct traffic and park cars. Chef Geri, Chef Chris, Guadalupe Centeno, Ana Bravo and students prepared pancakes and sausages to feed the hungry crowd. At the ticket gate ready to take the $10.00 admissions fee was Nancy Turmelle, Angie Imbriale, Jill Peterson, and Claudia Rivero. Darlene Crete, Joann Cassio, Carolyn Casserly, TIm Hall, John Mazzarella, assisted wherever there was a need. Manning the Student Services table throughout the day were Bob Waller, Deb Young, Oliva Ralston, Fay Warfield, and Lynne Bedrava while Cynthia Murin coordinated the food and drink truck. John Monda entertained the celebrity flippers and sold t-shirts as the event came to a close. Sam Geen and Armando Padilla manned Command Central and made sure volunteers had appropriate supplies to do their job. Selling food were and promoting clubs were Dawn Peck, Neil Fehr, Tara Barr, Dulcie Neiman, Rose Whippo, Melissa Meirendorff, Lindita Licia, Cheree Jones-Diver, Other voluneers: Shoshona Helfand, Jerry Soffin, Bruce Peters,Ray Smith, several high school parents, and of course Belynda's husband John who transported golf carts and grills and Jack's wife who let us have Jack on her anniversary and ran to buy drinks when the supply was low. Others who brought their families out to enjoy the event included Andy Retz, Kirk Jervis, Diana Childs, Kami Greer and Dulce Lora-Trejo.
Ricki Ponton, Marie Coleman and Rita Kentros and captured memories in photos and videos while Ariel Pechokas showed the media around. We will make sure to share picture as we get them.
Of course the event would not be possible without the support of the City of Naples and Naples Airport staff. We thank them for hosting the event for six consecutive years. If we left off anyone out, that was not our intent, as you can see it took all of us to bring to fruition the 6th Annual Fly-In, Cruise. We look forward to next year.

February – Heart Healthy Month
If meat and potatoes is ‘your thing,’ you may want to rethink you dinner plans, as widespread research is showing that a “plant-strong” diet has the power to radically improve your health. Visit www.chiphealth.com to learn more about the benefits of reducing animal protein. Some results include:
· Normalize Blood Pressure -- Many CHIP participants that are hypertensive at the start of the program dramatically reduce and sometimes eliminate their need for medication.
· Lower Cholesterol -- 19.8% reduction in average total cholesterol in 30 days for those with baseline cholesterol of higher than 280mg/dl (7.24 mmol/l).
· Lower Fasting Blood Glucose -- 19.9% reduction in average fasting plasma glucose in 30 days for those with baseline fasting plasma glucose of higher than 125mg/dl (6.94 mmol/l).
· Lower BMI -- Participants report reduced BMI by the average of 3% within just 30 days and with long term adherence to the lifestyle resulting in achieving ideal body weight.
