PAEMST (Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching) Award Nominations are open!

Nominate an outstanding science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher for this highest of honors by October 26, 2020! Shortly after that, nominations for the 7-12th grade teacher nominations will open. Check out this wonderful opportunity by visiting the PAEMST website.



The Take Care of Texas Video Contest is a fun way for young people to learn about protecting the environment and come up with creative ways to share this knowledge with others! Students film a 30-second video that shows positive ways to Take Care of Texas. The students that submit the best videos can win great prizes including scholarships and GoPro Hero Black Packages, awarded by the contest sponsor, Waste Management of Texas, Inc. Calling all Hank Fans! Calling all McConaughey Fans!

A new podcast series has launched starring Matthew McConaughey as “Hank the Cowdog.” Several episodes are available currently and a couple more will be available this month. The free podcasts can be accessed through Apple Podcasts or other podcast hosting services. More information about the series can be found at;

Each of the five podcast episodes will have an educational activity prepared by the National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. These activities will be aligned with national curriculum standards and will focus on literacy, science, STEM and social and emotional well-being. 6 - 8th Grade...The Future City Contest is going Virtual!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty surrounding the school year and extracurricular activities, Future City has been restructured so that teams can complete the deliverables in-person (i.e. in a classroom or afterschool program) or remotely (i.e. collaborating online while learning from home). The competitions (regionals and Finals) will also take place online, rather than in-person. For more information about the competition, check out their website. Registration closes October 31st.
