Hudson Hawk Band Updates

Week of March 22-26

Welcome Back - 4th Quarter Starts NOW!

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed some rest and relaxation over Spring Break and are ready to jump in as we close out this school year. We only have 9 weeks to go and a lot to pack in. My family definitely enjoyed the time off to recharge and we are ready to finish strong!

Advanced Band students should be preparing for UIL, the spring concert, and auditions for 2021-2022 band placements. Beginner Band students will be preparing for Scale Master pass-offs, solo contest, spring concert, and auditions for 2021-2022 band placements. It's going to be fun and it'll fly by! Consistent practice will help students feel confident with the upcoming performances.

Spring Concert Preference Form

We are preparing for our annual spring concert and would like to hear from you. We really want to find a way to have our virtual students join us for this last performance in a way that is safe and fits each family's comfort level. Please fill out this form to share your thoughts with us as we prepare for our annual spring concert by clicking on THIS LINK.

5th Graders Joining Band

If you have any siblings, cousins, friends, neighbors, etc. currently in the 5th grade and planning to attend Hudson next year, please encourage them to sign up for band. They can find all the information they need to sign up, find the perfect instrument fit, and more at our band website.

Our current band families are always wonderful advocates for our band program and we would be very grateful for any encouragement you can give to our future band families!

Booster Club

It's been a weird year and it is almost over. We will be graduating some incredible band parents who have done so much to help our band program over the years in just a few weeks. If you have ever wanted to be more involved or have a desire to serve the band program as a member of our booster club board, please contact Mrs. Becker to express your interest. We will be holding a booster club meeting in the next few weeks to nominate and vote on new board members. It is not a huge time commitment, but is a wonderful way to be involved and to make new band parent friends!
Big picture

It's never too late to get started in private lessons! If you want your student to catch up, get ahead, or just get more reinforcement, click below to sign up.

Helpful Info/Reminders

School-Owned Instrument Usage Fees

The $50 per year ($25/semester) fee charged by GISD for students who use a school-owned instrument (oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor sax, bari sax, French horn, euphonium, and tuba) has now been assessed to your student's Skyward account. The payment for the use of the school instrument is due by March 1, but can be paid online anytime now. You can use a credit card in Skyward or send cash/check (made out to Hudson Middle School) with your student to school. Further details about how to pay online will be sent soon for those who need extra help completing their payment.

**Occasionally, we have students that play other instruments, not listed above, who use a school-owned instrument. The fee has been assessed to those students as well.**

For step-by-step instructions to pay this fee in Skyward, CLICK HERE.
