Budewig Intermediate School
The Home Stretch...
It is so hard to believe that this is the final newsletter of the school year! It seems like such a short time ago we were welcoming our students on the first day of school. It has been a wonderful school year and our students have made tremendous adjustments!
It is very important that our students continue to work hard on academics through the end of the school year. May still have great opportunities for learning and we want all students to take full advantage. We look forward to the last weeks of school with all of you. Please continue to keep solid routines at home as we come down the home stretch.
A special thanks to you, the parents who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable! Thank you for the partnership between home and school, which is so important. We appreciate all that you do each and every day for our school and our children!
Together, we’ve learned much and shared experiences that will remain in our hearts for years to come. The passion and strength within our community makes our school truly a special place for our children and a place that I am not only extremely proud to lead, but also one that I can call HOME.

Do not send your child to a district facility if he/she has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days or exhibits symptoms. Please call the school. This will ensure everyone in our AISD community stays safe.
Students will only stay home if they test positive. If they test positive parents are asked to report to the student reporting link: https://form.jotform.com/riskmgnt/studentreporting
All AISD facilities continue to operate within COVID-19 response guidelines aligned with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The district will thoroughly clean, disinfect, and inspect all potentially exposed areas and equipment as well as common areas around the building.
Campus Safety
Also, parents be aware of what your child is bringing to and from school in his or her backpack. Make it a part of a morning routine to check your child's backpack before he/she leaves for school. Any student in possession of contraband (i.e. weapons, controlled substances, etc.) will receive consequences which may include attending Alternative Learning Campus (ALC).
Identification (I.D.) badges must be worn by all students. The badges are part of the school’s mode of dress and are to be worn at all times. Badges must be replaced at a cost if lost or damaged. Replacement cost per I.D. is $5.00. There are school consequences for students without the I.D. badge.
The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority!
Cyber Safety
As kids get older, it gets a little trickier to monitor their time spent online. They may carry a smartphone with them at all times. They probably want — and need — some privacy. This is healthy and normal, as they're becoming more independent from their parents. The Internet can provide a safe "virtual" environment for exploring some newfound freedom if precautions are taken.
Online access comes with risks, like inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and online predators. Using apps and websites where kids interact, predators may pose as a child or teen looking to make a new friend. They might prod the child to exchange personal information, such as address and phone number, or encourage kids to call them, seeing their phone number via caller ID.
- Talk about the sites and apps your child use and their online experiences.
- Discuss the dangers of interacting with strangers online and remind them that people online don't always tell the truth.
- Explain that passwords are there to protect against things like identity theft. They should never share them with anyone, even a best friend.
Parents should be aware of what their child see and hear on the Internet, who they meet, and what they share about themselves. Taking an active role in your child's Internet activities helps ensure that they benefit from them without being exposed to the potential dangers.
Talk with your child, use tools to protect them, and keep an eye on their activities!
Final Progress Report & Report Card
The final Progress report will go home with students on Thursday, May 5. The final report card will go home with students on Thursday, May 26.

After School Programs
At Budewig Intermediate, we hold our students to the highest of academic standards and can’t stress enough the importance of their education. We believe that academics should come first and extra-curricular activities second. After school tutorials will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Club meetings/activities will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Tutorials: Tutorial invitations have been issued to selected students for this semester. The invitation will state the time frame, subject, and with whom they would be tutoring with. Please notify your child's teacher if you are interested in your child participating in tutorials.
The last day of after school tutorials is Thursday, May 5, 2022.
Clubs: After school clubs are off to a great start! We have Cheerleader, Volleyball, Soccer, Latin Beats, Robotics, Junior Gents, Dance Fusion, Ladies Distinction, Boys to Men, and so much more. Clubs are a privilege, if your student is having trouble with behavior at school it will be at the teacher/administrator's discretion whether they are permitted into the club.
Please pick up your student(s) on time. Car riders should be picked up by 6:00 p.m. After three late pick ups from clubs and/or tutorials your child will be removed from the after school program. When picking up your child, you will pick them up in the dismissal line where the car riders are released from daily. If you would need to pick your child up early from a club, please go to the office and sign them out in the office with proper ID.

Summer Wellness Tips
1. Get your rest
Routines may vary with summer events but aim to get seven to nine hours of sleep a night. Keep your room cool and shades pulled to help make your sleep more comfortable.
2. Move your body
Try getting some exercise in the morning hours before the sun is at its peak. Or break up your day and go for shorter walk breaks throughout your day.
3. Connect with other
Plan something fun with family or friends. It doesn’t need to be expensive, but being social and around others will help keep any negative thoughts from ruminating. Try to call at least one person to stay connected.
4. Stay hydrated
Aim to drink more than the standard eight glasses a day. And get creative: put some frozen berries in your water or even some mint leaves and lime slices. Opt for snacks with high-water content such as watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
5. Wear sunscreen
Look for at least an SPF 30 and wear it all the time! Even if you are just running errands or going for a “short walk”.
Use these tips to help take care of yourself this summer and stay safe and healthy all season long!
