Positve and negitve impacts
Human impacts
pesticide known as DDT is still showing up at consistent levels in the tissue of Adélie penguins in Antarctica. Chemicals have been stored in the ice, but glaciers have transported it to the coast. Scientist estimate that glaciers are releasing 1 to 4 kilograms of DDT per year.
Artifical reef/ Texas Clipper
The reefing of the Texas clipper will provide the state of Texas with a premier artificial reef dive and fishing attraction that will enhance recreational opportunities in the Gulf of Mexico while enhancing marine life.
Over fishing
Some species of fish and shellfish are declining dramatically, on average, people eat four times as fish now then they did in 1950. About 200 billion pounds of fish caught each year.
Ocean resourses
The ocean is earths most valuable natural resources. It provides important minerals such as salt, sand, gravel, etc. We also use the ocean as a way for transportation for boats carrying important goods and cruise ships. Its also a way people earn there money and living.
Oil spills
oil can infect many plants and animals and can be very harmful to animals because of its chemicals are very poisons. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and fur, reducing birds' and mammals' ability to maintain their body tempters. Oil affects animals like sea otters and sea birds that are found on the sea surface.
Preventing oil spills
We can prevent oil spills by using leak detective devices, conducting maintenance and inspection campaign on a regular bases, selecting means of transportation and routes that limit risk of accident's.
How to help the ocean
use little fertilizer (including manure) because it adds nutrients to the soil and could cause harmful algae blooms that messes up the oceans natural balance.
