Juliet - Character Connection
People should not marry people they just met.
Act 1 Scene 3
When Juliet is speaking to Lady Capulet about the issue of marrying Paris she says, "I'll look to like if looking liking move. But no more deep will I endart my eye..."(lines 99-101). Lord and Lady Capulet want Juliet to marry Paris, a relative of Prince Escalus, Juliet knows nothing about Paris, only that her parents want her to marry him. She agrees to look at him and see if she likes him but she ends up not liking him and falls for Romeo.
Act 2 Scene 2
Juliet is only her balcony talking to herself when she says,"O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name..." (33-36). Juliet having just met Romeo that night, believes Romeo is the "one" and wants to see him again but knows he is a Montague (the enemy). This "love" leads to the death of them both.
Act 5 Scene
After Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo by her side dead and hears guards coming she says, "Yea, noise? then i'll be brief. O happy dagger, this is thy sheath. There rust and let me die"(183-185) Juliet awakes in the tomb and finds Romeo by her, dead. She feels that she cannot live without him, and kills herself. Hence why marrying someone you just met is not a good thing to do.
THEME Act 1 Scene 5
When Romeo and Juliet first meet they kiss and romeo says, " Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urge! Give me my sin again."(1016) After saying this Romeo kisses Juliet again and thus sparking a "love" between them. This leads to them getting married in a couple of days and eventually both of them dying.
