Jobs Jobs Jobs........ Youth Job Fair
The School to Work Alliance Program (SWAP), as part of Mesa County School District 51, will be hosting a Youth Job Fair on a non-school day on March 10, 2022. This is SWAP's annual Youth Job Fair and all high school students are welcome to attend. SWAP has confirmed and is currently networking with 64 employers and resource agencies who will be in attendance and is excited to meet with students across the Valley. SWAP has been working with individual students and classes to prepare students on building resumes, sharpening interview skills, through mock interviews, and working with students on dressing for success!
Each year the Youth Job fair is consistently seeing over 300 job seekers attend which has proven to be successful in helping students find jobs that allow them to work over the summer, on weekends, and year-round. This event is a valuable experience and opportunity for students to be able to meet and network with a large number of employers as well as community resource agencies in one location. Don't miss out on this opportunity!

Valley Program News
Valley has some exciting news! Valley will now be known as Valley Prep. Prep stands for (Personalized rigorous Education Program). We feel this name change represents our true goals for Valley-to provide core academic support to meet students' graduation plans while being in a safe place to develop communication and workforce readiness skills. To go along with our new name, we also got new signs! This will help our students feel more welcome and families and visitors to find our entrance. Come by and check it out during our Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 23rd from 3:00-7:00pm.

Success.....
What a great turn out! This has been the first time in 2 years that we were able to open our Floral shop for Valentines and deliver and make beautiful flower arrangements! The students did an amazing job right along with our new teacher Mr. Wes Pidcock and his assistant, Sierra Goodwin, who is also new to us this year. You all did an amazing job! Thank you to all the Community who bought flowers and made this a success! We hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Health Science
We want to Congratulate and wish the best of luck to some of our Health Science students who will be competing in Denver, Colorado to represent us at the CTE HOSA event (Health Occupations Students of America). They will be competing in CERT-community, emergency, response teams, medical terminology, First-Aid/CPR/AED and Anatomage. Again, we can never say it enough thank you to all the Community Partners that make events like this be able to happen for our youth!
Congratulations and best of luck!--- Giselle Diaz Coria, Ava Smith, Cieyla Christiansen, Sierra Kelsey, Emerald Strong, Madison Toke, Abigail Kroeker, and Lexi Zarlengo!

Career Center Campus
The Career Center offers 7 Career & Technical Education courses to District 51 high school students, who can earn elective and academic credits toward graduation while learning the vocational and employability skills needed to be successful in today's workforce. Our programs all use a hands-on work-based model of instruction-students can run an actual restaurant or floral shop, build sheds, repair lawnmowers and groom dogs.
