Hello Pleasant View Families,

Global pandemic aside, there isn’t a more exciting way to start the school year than as the principal of Pleasant View Elementary School! I am so excited and grateful to serve your family this year. I cannot wait for the first day of school when I will have the opportunity to meet all of our incredible learners. I know that this year, like every other, will present itself with unique challenges, but I also know that together we can overcome any obstacle.


Here’s just a little bit about me and my life outside of education. My husband, Chris and I have two children. Iliana is a third-grader and Cruz is a first-grader. As a parent of two elementary school students, I completely understand the challenges and rewards of this particular age group. There is really nothing like it! As a family, we love hiking, playing board games, and having fun movie nights. Our two favorite activities are watching Star Wars together and exploring a new state park. (Our goal is to see all 41 state parks and so far we have been to 22!)

OPEN HOUSE EVENT PLANNED THIS WEEK

We are holding our in-person open house event this WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25th from 5:30-7pm. Teachers** will be available to meet and greet students and families.


Please note for Open House that masks are recommended and not required by all visitors in the building. In an effort to reduce the possibility of virus spread before schools begin, we ask that during Open House time, you please visit your child’s classroom, drop off necessary supplies and minimize the amount of time spent in the building. Any groups that will be sharing resources or offerings (PTO, Scouts, etc) are being asked to set up tables outside to reduce congregations in the building. **4K staff will not be in attendance at Open House and will schedule "Getting To Know You Day" time with families during the first few days of school.


21/22 SCHOOL PHOTOS

School Pictures will take place during the school day on Thursday, September 9th. Our Make-up/Retake Day will be Tuesday, October 12th. If you are unable to make it on either of those days, please contact the School and Sport Pics New Berlin office at 262-780-2901 to set up an appointment.

Please remember to pack daily snacks for your students. Snacks should follow the district wellness policy by limiting snacks to fruits, vegetables, cheese, yogurt and meat unless teacher discretion warrants further limitations. Examples include fresh fruit, applesauce pouches, fruit cups, raisins, carrots, celery, peppers, string cheese, cheese cubes, deli meat, meat sticks.

BACK TO SCHOOL ONLINE CHECK-IN

Thank you to all of our families who have completed Online Check-In this year! We appreciate your participation and cooperation with this new process. Checking-in helps us schedule students into classes and verifies we have all the correct information for your family. If you have not checked in yet, you need to call our office as soon as possible at 414-423-4650.


FORMS DUE TO THE OFFICE

Just a reminder that if you have any forms such as your child’s birth certificate, proof of residency or immunization records that need to be turned in, feel free to stop by the office prior to the start of school to drop those off. Please call first (414) 423-4650 to ensure that a staff member is available.

MEDICATION FOR THE 21/22 SCHOOL YEAR

If your student will require ANY (over the counter or

prescription) medication for the 21-22 school year
Please fill out the Request to Administer Medication
form found on our district website and have it signed by
your physician.

Starting August 30th, all medication can be dropped off at the school in its original container along with this form.

BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR PARENTS OF 4K & 5K

4K & Kindergarten students will be picked up and dropped off with other elementary students at a designated stop. A parent or designee must assume responsibility for the child at the stop when dropped off.

In regards to same day notification (this should only be done for emergencies), please call First Student Busing at 414-422-2020 so they can pass along the information to the bus driver.

ABSENCE REPORTING

It is essential to note that student absences are now reported using THIS FORM. The Absence Reporting Form is also located as a button on the Pleasant View webpage and under the “Parents Information” section. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent.

The Absence Reporting Form should be used to report ANY attendance change including late arrivals, early departures, and pre planned absences for both in-person and virtual students.

CUB SCOUTS

Interested in joining Cub Scouts? On Wednesday August 25th, stop by our booth at the PV

Open House and learn about Cub Scouts and Pack 538. Parents and potential new cub scouts

(children who will be in grades Kindergarten (K5) through 5th Grade for School Year 2021-2022)

who are not already members of Pack 538 are welcome to attend and join. Come meet the

Pack Leaders, sample some Scout Popcorn, and register your Scout to join. Scouts have year-

round fun with STEM events, community service, camping and more. Contact Tim Bienzen, at

AFTER SCHOOL THEATRE CLASSES

Sing! Dance! Act! Join Character Kids for a fun-filled theatre class at Country Dale on Wednesdays, 4-5 pm, starting September 22nd! Students will learn the basics of acting, singing and musical theatre dance through theatre games, skill building exercises and work on a group song or scene. Parents are invited to a special performance on the last day of class! Focus is put on developing imagination, social skills and a positive self image through the performing arts. NEW SPEAK UP SPEAK OUT FORM

The District has joined “Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin” for threat or incident reporting. This takes the place of our previous “StopIt” reporting form. Click on this link to view the new form. You will notice as you start typing the name of your school, the choices for schools narrows so you can select your school. By selecting your school, this report goes to the principal or local law enforcement when needed. The video linked below gives a good overview of how “Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin” works and is good to review with your family.
