PANTHER NEWS
June 2019
Message from Mrs. RIvera
Dear Purdy Parents & Families,
We have reached the end of another school year and begin to look forward to the excitement of summer. It is a wonderful time of year to be able to relax, take vacations to exciting places, and spend quality time with family and friends. As you and your family head into the summer break, I want to take a moment to thank you for your hard work and dedication to the education of your child(ren). This has been a year of growth for Purdy students and one that has resulted in many exciting memories and experiences for all of us. During the summer, please keep in mind the importance of reading in your daily schedule. Your child has worked hard throughout the school year to make positive strides in the area of reading and we want to ensure that this upward trend continues to take place.
Behind all of the success this year are the dedicated and inspiring teachers and staff at Purdy and a PTA who has given countless hours of their free time. A sincere thanks to each of you! To the parents of Purdy, we express our admiration and appreciation for your cooperation and support. It has also been a sincere pleasure and privilege to have the opportunity to work with your children and watch them grow and excel this year.
As with most years, the close of a school year also brings about change. I want to wish staff and students leaving Purdy Elementary for various reasons, all the best in their future endeavors. Congratulations to all of our students on their successful completion of the school year, especially to the 5th Grade students. As our 5th grader students move on to Harbor Ridge Middle School, they will certainly be missed and they will always proudly represent Purdy Panthers.
Class Placements: We will continue to have staffing changes throughout the summer and as a result will be unable to communicate and confirm your child’s teacher for the 2019-2020 school year until class lists are posted on Friday, August 23 at 4:30 pm. We will continue to monitor our enrollment and work through the summer to finalize staffing and student placements. We’ve already increased by two classrooms due to growing enrollment and want to be sure of our enrollment prior to officially assigning teachers and classrooms. In making class assignments, our goal is to place each child in a class in which he or she can be most successful while maintaining a balance among classes in terms of gender, race, academic ability, disciplinary and social needs, learning styles, and individual needs of the students. Please keep in mind we cannot guarantee special requests.
In closing, it has been my pleasure getting to know not only your child, but you as well. Having parental support and open lines of communication is an essential part of any successful school year. Thank you for all you’ve done to make our year so fulfilling and memorable. Please mark your calendar for our
Back to School Picnic and Meet & Greet on August 26th. More information regarding our Back to School Picnic, Meet & Greet, class lists, and classroom placements
for next year will be emailed to everyone in late August. We look forward to continued success for the year 2019-2020. Have an enjoyable, safe summer!
Best regards,
Mrs. Rivera
