Northmoor Weekly Game Plan

December 6--10

Pep Talk

We are excited about the activities that are planned for students and staff this week: Kids Heart Challenge, Cuddle & Compassion Day, and PBIS Celebration with the Knight Madrigals. Friendly reminder to always contact the office if your child will be absent. It is always great to communicate this information with the classroom teacher, but the official attendance is done by clerical in Skyward. We do not want your child do be marked unexcused or quarantined. Thank you for all you do!

18th Annual Cuddle & Compassion Day

Get ready for the 18th annual Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day! Please join us in showing HOPE and COMPASSION during the month of December.

For those of you who are new to our school family, every year we take a special day to cuddle up in our pajamas and show compassion for the children of St. Jude. This event began 18 years ago when a Northmoor student, Aaron Hunter, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Our school community pulled together around the holiday season to help this family in need. Aaron passed away on December 10, 2004, (that year's Cuddle Compassion Day). Mayor Dave Ransburg issued a proclamation declaring December 10th as Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day in Peoria. There is a memorial outside of our library with Aaron’s picture as we renamed the library the Aaron Hunter Library. As we honor the children of St. Jude, we show compassion and give thanks for every healthy child in our community. We will be taking donations for St. Jude on Thursday, December 9th, our 18th annual Cuddle Compassion Day. On this special day, all students and staff will cuddle up in their pajamas in honor of Aaron, who loved to wear super-hero pajamas. Many classrooms will plan quiet reading activities since Aaron had a true love for reading. Aaron’s family and friends will be visiting us for a special assembly as we honor and remember Aaron.

Thank you in advance for your donations and support. Two years ago we raised over $500 for the children of St. Jude. Let’s beat that amount!!! Any amount helps!! It means so much to the families of the children of St. Jude and we hope that we can help researchers find a cure for childhood cancer.

Kids Heart Challenge Update

Northmoor is $387 away from the $1500 level ($100 US games and $60 cash award) for receiving FREE PE EQUIPMENT for your school!!!

Hmmm…What does this mean? Of course this total only shows online donations because that is all we can see right now. Once the event has ended, we will add in any cash/check donations online. The US Games Certificates for your FREE PE Equipment will come to you by email, so shop with them right away or tuck the away somewhere safe!

Northmoor will certainly hit that level so keep aiming higher! We will host a wear red day this Friday, December 6 in support of the American Heart Association and our word of the month--Compassion.

Northmoor is doing a really great job and I want to say THANK YOU for your support this year! HAVE FUN!
