Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons
This weeks we will focus on Newton’s Laws and their application in the real world. Students will end the week with a new design challenge and a progress check. We will be building our edible cars on January 31 and February 1, and will have our Edible Car Race on February 2. I’m so excited to see their ideas come to life!
Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice, Ms. Gregg and Ms. Parker
On Monday students will be taking their Middle of Year math MAP test. This will allow us to see their growth from the beginning of year MAP test.
Students will learn how to generate equivalent algebraic expressions, solve algebraic expressions given the value of a variable, and use the properties of operations: inverse, identity, commutative, associative, and distributive properties. Students will test over this material on Friday.

Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden
This week, students will test over African geography Wednesday, January 24. We will continue to explore the issues facing Africa today as we follow the stories of Salva and Nya in the novel, A Long Walk to Water.
Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen
This week students will be developing a way to create a personal brand that they can share with a global business. We will take a personality assessment to identify specific qualities that make each of us unique and decide how we can promote those qualities to show a global business that we can help make them successful.

Art ~ Mrs. Beam
This week we will be continue working on our Oil Pastel Unit. Students have been learning how to apply their knowledge of color theory, value, and pastel techniques in a variety of workshops to prepare for our final artworks.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
Kerr All Star Band Tryout information went out last week, students will audition in class this week. Hughes information will go out as soon as I have it. Videos are back, as we are focusing on learning new scales.
P.E. ~ Coach Dunson
We will finish our badminton unit this week with match play for the entire week! Please remember to bring your uniform daily for dressing out regardless of weather conditions. Jackets and sweatpants are definitely acceptable to wear over your shorts and shirt. This accounts for 10% of your daily grade.
