Week 5
We are starting Week 5! As we start Week 5, we begin a new unit, Unit 3, La Salud (Health). Just a reminder that as we continue to go through the semester, all units are now 2 weeks, with specific assignments being due each week. Students only have to attend one RLC every two weeks, but are encouraged to attend more than one per unit if they want to. Students should have finished all assignments for Unit 2 this past Friday evening, February 12. Please speak with your student and make sure he/she has completed all assignments for Unit 2 and is ready to start Unit 3. Below is a list of what is due by this Friday, February 19. Students have 4 assignments to complete this week.
Required Live Classes for Unit 3
Students have 6 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 3 this week or next. Please help your student plan accordingly and put an RLC for Unit 3 this week or next week in his/her agenda. For the rest of the semester I will be teaching my RLCs @ 8pm (usually on every other Monday) so that students that have after school activities will be able to attend a later scheduled time for the RLC. If a student is unable to attend an RLC, please encourage them to contact me to set up an alternate assignment.
Culture Cafe for Extra Credit!
Just a reminder that students have the opportunity to attend sessions in the Culture Cafe for extra credit. Tonight (Monday) at 7pm, students have the opportunity to attend a Culture Cafe about "Latin: Love and Marriage." The extra credit for attending a Culture Cafe goes towards the student's participation grade. In addition, students can attend any of the sessions as it does not have to be about Spanish. Below is a list of the various Culture Cafe sessions for students for this week. Students can click on the Culture Cafe Block/Button on the main Moodle page to enter the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit.
Peer Tutor Center
The Peer Tutor Center is sharing their latest TutorTalk article with students, parents and ELAs. Here is an article which will benefit your student for Spanish or any course your student may be taking. Click here for "Have No Fear! Time Management is Here!" by Isabella S. about the 3 main steps to becoming an A+ student.
Just a reminder that the Peer Tutor Center is available to help students. Students can click on BBIM and find a tutor to help them of they can visit UpSwing. Maybe they need some help navigating through the course or maybe they need help with Spanish. Peer Tutors are waiting to help them! Virtual Buddies are also available to work with students as they progress through the course. Please encourage students to use this great resource available for them.
The end of first quarter
Just for your information.... The 1st quarter will end on Friday evening, March 11, at 11:55pm when all assignments must be completed. Please encourage students to be on task and complete weekly assignments so that they will be able to meet this deadline. in addition, students are encouraged to work ahead in the class. If a student receives a zero for an assignment, students can makeup the assignment up to March 11 without any penalties.
