Friday, 10/6 -- SOCIAL STUDIES: Unit 2 Quiz (Cattle Drives, Black Cowboys, & Inventors)
A study guide will be provided on Monday, 10/2 for the Unit 2 Quiz. The study guide, map, and additional notes from this unit are in students' Social Studies journals.
Students should be able to...
1. Locate important places in the United States on a map: Chicago, Illinois, Kittyhawk, NC, the Chisholm Trail, and Pittsburgh, PA.
2. Describe the role of the cattle trails in the late 19th century; include the Black Cowboys of Texas, the Great Western Cattle Trail, and the Chisholm Trail.
3. Describe the impact on American life of the Wright brothers (flight), George Washington Carver (science), Alexander Graham Bell (communication), and Thomas Edison (electricity).
4. Explain how price incentives affect people’s behavior and choices (e.g., decisions to participate in cattle trails because of increased beef prices)
