Director's Message
Dear BIS Community,
It has been another adventurous week at QSI. The students and teachers are getting into a great rhythm of school. The students are becoming more familiar with their schedules and activities. The teachers are developing strong relationships with the students.
As we all settle into the routine of school, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school with any inquiries. If you are concerned about your child making healthy relationships in class or completing assignments, you can reach out to the classroom teacher. If you are concerned about your child adjusting to a new campus, you can reach out to our school counselor. If you have questions about our school curriculum, you can reach out to our Director of Instruction. If you have any general safety concerns or questions, please contact myself. We are all here to make sure your child receives a rigorous and safe learning environment.
Next week will be our first Success Orientation assembly. With COVID safety regulations lifted, we are returning to having parents attend the assemblies. Please know that the broadcasting of the event on YouTube will not occur due to child image and safety permissions. We hope parents can attend the assembly. Please see the flyer below for assembly times. Please be seated after the first 6 rows so that there is plenty of room for the students to sit up front. Thank you for this consideration.
Safety is a priority for our school. Our staff completed a through health and safety walk- through with our MSA safety check list. From the gym to kitchen, our school was inspected to make sure everything is safe to use for our community. This safety check occurs three times a year.
The organizers of Saturday beach cleanup have rescheduled the event for October 1. When we get more details, we will share them during next week.
A gigantic thanks to the students and parent who volunteered for the first BIS logo revision meeting. The students had great ideas and suggestions on what a new Eagle should look like when printed on hats and shirts. Their suggestions were sent to a designer. When we receive the sample logos from the designer, the volunteers will meet again to select the best logo to represent our school. GO EAGLES!
If you have any questions regarding the newsletter or other matters concerning your child’s education or safety, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Dr. Garner
A note from the Director of Instruction
Status reports and MAP results will all be shared with parents during the parent-teacher conferences on October 13-14th. There will be more information forthcoming on how to sign up for parent-teacher conferences.
Middle School and Secondary are starting soccer & volleyball practices next week, which is very exciting. We have started with the Student Council activity for students 11+. We also have some after school club choices, including the Human Rights Club & Weight Lifting Club, with more choices on the way!
Sincerely,
Katie Holmquist

Ms. Elmira’s Native Russian class
As usual, Russian students actively started their new academic year. They have been working hard, learning new topics, and having fun.
At the beginning of September, elementary students of Russian class participated in the contest of “Who will write more words?” Participants had to write as many words as they could find while watching a Russian cartoon. Contesters had fun, and the winners got their prizes.
All students in Russian class also participated in the contest of “What do we know about Russia?” They made interesting posters that were put in the school hallway for all students to see. Parents of students who made these posters were invited to enjoy the work of their children. Well done, Russian class!
