Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
In Parshat Ha’azinu, the Torah recounts the history of B’nei Yisrael. The Torah, in poetic fashion, alludes to Migdal Bavel, to living and traveling in the desert following the Exodus from Egypt, and ultimately to settling and thriving in Eretz Yisrael. We then read about the Jewish people’ abandonment of God, God’s hiding of His face, B’nei Yisrael’s repentance, and the other nations singing our praises. We know that these are but a few of thousands of events that our people have experienced on their journey through history.
Just like we are on a journey through our history as a nation, so too we are each on a personal journey as individuals. Journeys are often long, they present numerous obstacles, and they are replete with many positive and negative events, some that we experience as an individual, as a family, as a community or as a nation.
I have often shared with you a beautiful idea that I heard from one of my mentors: raising children is a marathon, not a sprint. In reality, our children are on a developmental journey and we join together with them as guides, mentors, advocates, and friends. That exciting journey is a lengthy one, full of various twists and turns. Just as with B’nei Yisrael, that journey with our children is full of moments of surety, challenge, joy, and doubt.
Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot are wonderful opportunities for us to pause on our journey, take a moment to look back at where we and our children have traveled from, and think about where we and our children should be headed next. By reflecting on the purpose of our ongoing odyssey through life with our children at our side, we can continue improving as individuals, as parents, and as role models and teachers for our children.
Shabbat Shalom,
Mrs. Becky Troodler
Principal
