PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia Ora e te Whānau,
Kia Ora e te whānau and welcome to Week 4.
It has been a very busy week with many wonderful things to celebrate.
I was very proud of the performance of our Cultural Group at the South Otago cultural festival held last Sunday. Our senior students stepped up and were wonderful leaders for both the waiata and the haka. A huge thank you to Miss Robins and Mrs Anderson for all the work they did to help the group prepare for this performance.
On Tuesday we had 5 teams from BPS participate in the South Otago rippa tournament. Congratulations to everyone who participated. I heard lots of stories of students encouraging each other and wonderful fair play being demonstrated on the field. It is wonderful to hear of our school values of responsibility, respect, integrity and empathy being demonstrated at these events.
This week I have been fortunate enough to attend a principals conference in New Plymouth. As well as learning lots of new ideas to help to continue to grow our school, I was also able to share many of the great things that are happening here at BPS.
This weekend, the Whānau and School will be busy making a LOT of cheese rolls. Money from this fundraiser will go towards our new playground surface. We will be working in the school hall on both Saturday and Sunday. All our parents are very welcome to come along and help.
Have a great weekend,
Ngā mihi nui,
Vicki Neave
Behavioural Issues
These only involve a very small group of our students and the staff are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. Thank you to the parents who have raised their concerns, and thank you for your understanding and patience as we follow through our procedures.
Fortunately most of our students have a great experience at school every day. We are doing our best to ensure that Balclutha Primary School is a safe and happy place for all our students every day.
Fuel for Schools Programme
If you are a South Fuels customer we would appreciate it if you could consider nominating Balclutha School as part of the "Fuel for Schools" Programme.
Once a participating school reaches their $1,000 target / goal they can redeem from the 40 plus technology and sports packages on offer. It’s just that simple. The more people involved and nominating a school the sooner they will be rewarded.
Thank you very much to all the families who already have nominated us! Your support is greatly appreciated.
Whānau and School Update
We had our meeting last night, many thanks to everyone for your positive and can-do attitude. I'm sure lots of laughs will be held over the weekend!
Cheese Rolls Pick Up Info:
Important Reminder: that the cheese rolls are to be picked up on Sunday from the BPS school hall from 11am. It is really important they are picked up before 5pm on Sunday as Oscar will be in the hall from 6.00am Monday and we cannot guarantee the safety of the cheese rolls (or the storage temperature). Bring a box or sturdy bags to carry your cheese rolls away.
If anyone in our school community has some free time over Saturday and Sunday please feel free to pop in and help us out.
