Busy Four-Day Week Ahead!
Dear Charlemagne Families:
No school on Monday, February 17 this week and we look forward to seeing you all for a busy four-day week starting Tuesday, February 18! A friendly reminder to please not drop your child off at school before 8 a.m. as there is no adult supervision before then.
Please join us for Mardi Gras this Friday, February 21 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Charlemagne. The event promises to be a festive evening with fun for the entire family! Tickets and Mardi Gras gear will be available for sale after school beginning on Wednesday, February 19. Don’t forget to come hungry and eat dinner at the event to support the class of 2021 Canoe Island trip. There is still plenty of opportunity to volunteer! Please see below for all of the details.
PTO General Meeting
Please join us in Room 1 on Tuesday, February 19 for our February PTO meeting. Lots of exciting events on the horizon including celebrating our classified staff from March 2-6! Child care will be provided for the duration of the meeting. Plan to meet from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Mardi Gras Carnival

4th Grade Concessions at Mardi Gras
The 4th grade class is providing concessions at Mardi Gras to fundraise for their Canoe Island trip. Please support their class by grabbing dinner and/or snacks in the cafeteria.
URGENT: Host families needed for March!
Time you added another chap/gent/monsieur to your household? If so, we need you! Two male interns are in need of host families placements from March to mid-June. If your family can assist our French immersion program-- Roosevelt or Charlemagne-- with a private room and welcoming home, please send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org or reach out to Helen Jetter (509) 840-3359 or Cynthia Stenger Riplinger (541) 579-4606.
Big thank you to those who have responded to our fundraising needs via direct drive and/or participate in our fundraising events. We couldn’t have the amazing opportunities for our students without your generous contributions! We realize not everyone is able to donate the same amount so we encourage you to donate as generously as you are able. If you are curious where we are with our fundraising goals for the 2019-2020 year and how you can help close the gap, please email email@example.com.
Oregon Battle of the Books
OBOB battles are scheduled for Thursday, February 27. We will be starting at 8:45 am and will have three battles going on at once, in three different rooms.
The final battle will be at an assembly for grades 2-5 on on Friday, February 28 at 11:00 am.
Because we will have the first three battles happening at once, we need assistance with reading questions, keeping time and keeping score. If there are any volunteers who would be willing to help on Thursday, February 27, please contact Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Night Out
Come enjoy each other's company at any Falling Sky Location on Tuesday March 10th. Twenty five percent of your dinner ticket will be donated to Charlemagne PTO!
Charlemagne’s Soiree is the school’s largest fundraiser. This year, Soiree is scheduled for Friday, April 17, so please be sure to save the date! The auction raises money for educational assistants and French-speaking Amity interns in your children(s) classrooms. It enables us to have classroom assistants to help keep our class sizes manageable and provide intervention for students who need support.
There are several ways you can help contribute to the Soiree.
- If you have or know of a business who would like to Sponsor the Soiree, we have multiple levels of sponsorships available with marketing packages!
If you or someone you know has a business or a skill that would make a good silent auction item, please donate! Possibilities are endless but examples could include gift certificates, artwork, experiences, tickets to an event, gift baskets, etc.
If you or someone you know has an experience that would make a good live auction package, please consider donating. Examples include cooking a meal for a group of people, party packages, vacation rentals, or even things we can combine with other donations to create a package. We would be happy to brainstorm with you how any of this may work!
If you have any amount of time to volunteer there are several ways you can help leading up to the auction or on the day of the auction! It does not need to be a lot of time - even a couple hours can make a big impact!
