Nurse Notes

Medication Administration Policy:

Important things to keep in mind regarding medication administration in the nurses office!

All Medications Prescription and Over-the-Counter (OTC) must come in with the following information:

· Name of student

· Name of medication

· Dose & time to be administered

· Number of days to be administered

· Current prescription date

· Be in original Pharmacy or OTC packaging

· OTC medications need to come in with a signed note from the parents (written not or email)

· All Prescription drug orders must come with a note from the prescriber stating the medication can be dispensed at school, or our office cannot legally give the medication!

The Districts Medication Permission Form can be found by clicking on the below link.

The State of Kansas and The Johnson County Health Department has changed the exclusion policy for Influenza!!

The seven day exclusion policy for influenza (flu) has changed from seven days to five days. Students and staff who are diagnosed with the flu will be excluded for five days, starting with the first day of symptoms. For example, if a staff member feels ill on Sunday and goes to the doctor and is diagnosed with flu on Wednesday, the five day exclusion starts on Sunday.

Students and staff must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication to bring down the temperature. If a staff member/student has followed the five day exclusion, but still has a fever on day six, the staff member/student must still be excluded until fever free with medication.

Kind Regards,

Christina Brandenburg MBA, BSN, RN

Thanksgiving Pies

We have the BEST staff at Mize and want to show them how thankful we are for them. We would like each staff member to take home a pie, provided by our wonderful Mize families, to enjoy over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please click on the sign up link and simply choose a flavor and drop off your pie in a disposable pie pan/container on the morning of Tuesday, November 26, 2019. We will have a few volunteers with carts out in the front car loop during drop off from 8:30-8:45 to collect pies. If you are dropping off your pie in the office before the designated collection time, please be sure to label it with "Staff Appreciation" as there are several other grade level Thanksgiving events going on this week. Thank you!
