Raleigh Field Trip March 25th
Permission Form and Money due by March 11th. We cannot accept late!
Wednesday, March 25th - Raleigh, NC, 5:45 am till 6:00 p.m.
If you are willing to chaperone and would like to ride the bus, we will have room and the cost to ride the bus is the same as the students, $35.00, sorry.
Regarding funds for field trips.....if you are having a struggle paying for the cost of this field trip, please send a note to your child's homeroom teacher stating assistance is needed for the cost and we will handle from there. We just need the permission form returned signed.
We do not want any student to miss this field trip because of funding, so please let us assist.
Donations Needed:
A huge thank you to the parents who contributed to our mini pizza fraction activity on Friday. We have great little chefs. They all bragged on who made the most delicious. Of course, we also had those who competed for the biggest pizza...double decker and more, one even referred to hers as the 'titanic'.
What's Happening in Math & Science:
Math: We are continuing our unit on fractions, simplifying, simplest form, equivalent & comparing. Post Test scheduled for Wednesday, March 11th. Math Cycle 14 re-test scheduled for Friday, March 13th.
***Math Homework, if any, posted on Teams for the week and recorded in planner. If any change is made to homework, it will be noted and written in student;'s planner (recorded at the end of the math block)
***Math notes/videos - posted on Teams (Please look under your child's math block, click on Class Notebook (under General tab), click on arrow beside class notebook then click on Content tab, and you will see Math notes and Math Videos) Math notebook should be coming home nightly
***Afternoon intervention: Students who were not proficient on previously tested concepts will get additional small group instruction time at end of the day.
Whats Happening in ELA & Social Studies:
ELA = Types of Poetry / Text Features vs. Text Structures
Weekly Genre Focus = Fairy Tales (point of view)
Word Study = Figurative Language – Simile / Metaphor, Words with VCCV patterns
Writing = Opinion Writing
Social Studies = NC Government – Making of a bill
Students will be taking their weekly spelling / vocabulary tests on Friday. Lists for this week are posted on Teams in the word study folder. They will also be taking a post test on Text Features/Text Structures on Friday.
Homework:
(listed on Teams under General – Class Materials – Homework)
1. Practice your spelling words nightly
2. Practice vocabulary word definitions nightly
3. Read at least 20 minutes each night. Note: You can use the books listed in Raz-Kids under the “level up” area. If you use these books, please also complete the quiz.
