Remote Learning: There is a difference
Teachers are learners and planners. We have been busy learning so much these past ten weeks, so have our students and families. We have learned new tech skills, what is essential, what is not, and; more importantly, how much we miss our classes and our colleagues. Teaching and learning is a very personal and collaborative process. We are good at our craft; learning and adapting to our students and their needs.
As we begin to wrap up this year we naturally want to plan for next year. This is the great unknown. What will school look like? How will it be different? What can I do now to be ready for next fall? This is the learner and planner at work. In reading about future plans and listening to the news we hear all sorts of phrases bantered about: hybrid, blended, online. These terms are not equal, they have different structures, instructional elements, and pedagogies. We have been participating in emergency remote learning; not quite the same as truly online instruction. We can think of this as a continuum.
We are all familiar with a traditional face to face classroom where all learning and instructional resources are primarily found in the classroom. Many of us are familiar with the web-enabled F2F model where most instruction and learning takes place in the physical classroom but are supported with online tools and resources such as Schoology, Google Classroom, and online curriculum. Blended learning is a model where some instruction takes place in a face to face classroom and other instruction takes place online, for example, 50% in a classroom and 50% online. A truly online class has 100% of instruction taking place online and even here there are differences: some are synchronous or asynchronous, etc. To learn more about the differences between face to face and a variety of distance learning models we have provided a variety of resources to explore:

Upcoming PD
The Ed Tech Team will be moving away from the PD/Support webinars due to lower participation rates and the increase in requests for one-on-one assistance.
However, we will be offering one more session on Kami as it still had good attendance.
