Welcome All!
Introduction
Welcome all to Skeleton News! Here is where you can learn about skeleton and follow Matt Antoine as he battles in the Sochi Winter Olympics. Standings are listed at the bottom of the page.
What is Skeleton?
The sport of Skeleton is a time trialed downhill sliding sport. The athletes lay on a special type of sled and go down the same frozen track that Luge and Bobsleigh use. The event was recently added to the games in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
How It Works
You start off with a sprinting start onto the ice track. After they lay on the sled, the use their head and shoulders to steer themselves. After they cross the finish, they use spiked shoes to slow themselves down to a stop. Picture found here.
