Message from Mrs. Powers
Esparza Families:
I am truly honored to serve the Esparza Elementary community as your new principal. I look forward to meeting everyone soon at Meet the Teacher. Come drop off your materials, meet your child's teacher, and stop by and have a popsicle with me.
I officially want to welcome everyone to Esparza Elementary and to the 2022-2023 school year. We look forward to the opportunity of making this school year a very positive experience for you and your child. We are confident that the partnership between the Esparza Elementary staff and our parents will be a successful combination in ensuring a wonderful school year for your child.
We will work to ensure our students are fulfilling our mission of “Transforming the learning of all students through high-quality instruction, while valuing diversity".
Please read the flyers and the information below to familiarize yourself with our school and district expectations. Northside ISD allows families to view the district Student Parent handbook online.
We look forward to a successful school year!
Beginning of the Year Campus Procedures
We will be working on routines and procedures and appreciate and thank you for your support and patience during the first few weeks of school.
Here are a few reminders to help things run smoothly:
Morning arrival is from 7:00-7:40. We highly recommend that you drop off between 7:00-7:30 when traffic is the lightest. This would also give students adequate time to eat breakfast. Instruction begins at 7:45. Parents are asked to clear the building at 7:40 a.m. so that we can begin instruction.
Morning student waiting areas: Students sit outside their classrooms. We will have supervision and encourage parents to promote student independence and keep the campus secure by 7:45 am. PreK and ECSE will wait in the cafeteria and their teacher will walk them to the class.
Tardies are being documented in the morning for those students who arrive after 7:45am. If you are dropping off your child later than 7:45am, staff will not be out front; therefore, please park in a designated parking spot and bring your child inside to our office to get a tardy slip, and then your child will be escorted to their classroom by one of our staff members.
Dismissal Bell is at 3:00 PM -
Walkers
Parents please do not walk up to the class lines or where the classrooms are waiting - there is not adequate space there for additional adults.
Car Riders
PK-2nd Grade Will be picked up in the back loop. Closest to the gym. Older siblings will go with the younger siblings.
3rd-5th grade will be dismissed in the front loop of the school.
Parents need to drive through the loop, have your child's name, grade, and teacher displayed on the car sign. So that we can safely walk our students to their cars and to their walking areas, parents are discouraged to park and walk up to the campus at this time due to congestion at dismissal time. To honor everyone's time and keep our pick up loop moving smoothly and safely, if you need to speak with your child's teacher, please email them and send them your message or request a parent conference.
We wear our Esparza shirts on Mondays and a college shirt on Fridays. Esparza shirts will be on sale on Meet the Teacher Night.
Water Bottles - Please have your child bring their water bottles again. They will continue to have access to the water bottle filling station.
Birthday Treats- We will allow birthday treats that are pre-packaged or non edible treats. They may be sent with your child or dropped off in the office. Please also let your child's teacher know in advance.

Attendance Matters
Safety is Top Priority at Northside ISD
In Northside, the safety of our students and staff is one of our top priorities. We regularly review and revise our safety plans and procedures to enhance security. Keeping our schools safe requires continuous work and communication with our students, staff, and families. Our approach to safety focuses on three areas – our people, our facilities and technology, and our procedures. Below, Dr. Brian Woods, explains what NISD is doing regarding safety in our schools. Visit Northside ISD's safety website for more information.
