Crazy Clams!!!(:

Introduction
A clam has no ears, mouth,or nose, but has a muscular foot! A clam has an interesting diet, a huge habitat, and even a movement! As you can see a clam might seem boring but it's not!
Habitat
Clams have a large habitat. For example, the giant clam lives mostly in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The Soft Shell Clam is found in the North American coasts. The Hard Shell Clam lives in The Gulf of St. Lawrence to about Texas. You can find the Atlantic Razor clam in Labrador to west Florida. Most clams are found in the Pacific Ocean. To be a little more specific, clams like warm, nice water. Also, lots of clams are found in shallow water, and shallow coral reefs. This reminds me of the time when I was at a beautiful beach in South Carolina.I found a bunch of different clams, but sadly no pearls in them even though some clams have pearls.
Movement
The next topic is movement. You might think a clam doesn't move but it does. When the clam is a larva or baby it floats in the water, then once the young marine animal finds a place that it likes it stays there forever. But that's not all, a clam might not have eyes but it has a muscular foot, the foot stretches down in the mud/sand then when it gets far enough in the sea floor, the body of the clam (not the foot) will eventually dig down to where its foot is.Another movement/noise a clam makes is” PLOP”when someone throws it in the ocean! As you can see a clam does move but it's hard to see the process.
Diet
The last important thing about a clam is its diet. The clam has a rather large diet because it is an omnivore meaning it eats plants and meat. The clams favorite food is the algae that grows on there body. Sometimes clams eat tiny food particles that are floating close by.Did you know, some of the seaweed clams eat is 100% protein for their bodies? The clams main predators is snails ,eels, and even starfish. Some of the predators are actually smaller than the clam itself! The clam eats by pumping water through their bodies and collects microscopic organisms. Such as plankton, bacteria, and imaterae from plants and animals. Since a clam has no ears, mouth,or nose the clam eats by filter feeding. Filter feeding is when water passes through an animal's gills. As you can see the pearl keepers diet is very important and different!
Conclusion
Now you know all about the 100 species of clams diet, habitat, and lastly movement.Guess what? Long ago people once believed the giant clam could drown divers by closing the mouth quickly on the swimmer's legs.We now know thats false and you know everything there needs to know about a clam!
