Bi-District Champions

Congrats to our Boys Soccer team for winning their Bi-district Soccer Game vs Ridge Point High School. The Rams advanced to the Area Round of the playoffs vs Cy-Ridge. The Area Championship game will be held this Tuesday, April 2 at Pridgeon Stadium at 7:00pm. Rams will be the Visitors. Tickets are $5.00. Come support your Rams!

English End of Course Exam Information

On Tuesday, April 9th, everyone enrolled in English I and anyone still in need of passing the English I EOC will be taking the English I End of Course exam. On Thursday, April 11th, everyone enrolled in English II and anyone still in need of passing the English II EOC will take the English II End of Course exam. Because of testing, we will have a closed campus - no visitors, deliveries, or early student pickups.

Testing room assignments were posted in various locations around the building on Friday, 5th. Students need to check the lists for the days they need to report. Some students will test on more than 1 day if they are still in need of passing both English EOC exams.

All non-testing students will follow a normal schedule.

Some reminders about testing:

• Electronic devices will not be allowed on students during testing. All cell phones must be turned off and in backpacks/belongings at the front or side of the room. Any student found to be in possession of a cell phone during testing will be suspended for the remainder of the day and, pending an inspection of the electronic device, could have their test invalidated and not scored. Electronic devices include any device with internet, camera, recording or messaging capabilities.

• Testing Students will not be allowed access to their backpacks until they are released from the testing room.

• Students may ONLY read a BOOK or remain quiet when they finish testing. They may not read magazines, comic books, textbooks, electronic readers, etc. Students must provide their own book to read. Books should be given to your testing teacher prior to beginning the test to read after the test.

• This is a normal school day, so dress code should remain the same. No pajamas, slippers, hoodies, hats, etc.

• Pillows and blankets will not be allowed.

• Snacks will not be provided.

• Testing students will take a break for lunch. Students MUST have their ids out and ready to go to get through the line in a timely manner.

ASVAB Career Exploration Program

ASVAB will be offered here at Mayde Creek High School on April 3rd at 7:30am.

It is a program offered to high school and post-secondary students as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program, which provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning, in both the civilian and military worlds of work.

If you are interested and currently in the 10th -12th grade, you may sign up in the Counselors’ offices located in room S302. For more information, please contact Mrs. Fearon

Student Parking

Student parking regulations have been in effect since Monday, August 20th. All student drivers must have a valid drivers license, valid insurance in their name (not just their vehicle), a $40 parking sticker, and this parent signed document on file with the senior office.

Students may only park in their designated, numbered spots. Students must have their parking sticker prominently displayed on the bottom left hand corner of their windshield above their inspection sticker.

There is a $20 boot fee for students parking illegally for the first boot. There is a $40 boot fee for students parking illegally after their first boot. Students booted must present a valid drivers license to have the boot taken off.

Peggy Cook Memorial Scholarship

Attention Seniors! The Peggy Cook Memorial Scholarship is open to all graduating seniors who plan to study in a digital animation related field, other technology field or pursue a degree in Education. The deadline to apply is April 1st, 2019. One $3,000 and two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. See Mr. Lawrence in room 1100.B for an application.

2019-2020 AP Exam Registration Changes

Beginning Fall 2019, College Board is making changes to the timeline for AP Exam Registration. Students will register and pay for AP exams during the fall registration period. Specific deadlines will be communicated at the beginning of next school year. Semester courses in the spring semester will have an early spring semester registration and payment deadline.

Spring 2019 Katy ISD Community Education Classes

The Spring 2019 Katy ISD Community Education classes are now open for registration. The purpose of Community Education is to provide the general public with learning opportunities including self-improvement, enrichment, recreation and academic courses.

Classes include learning opportunities pertaining to recreational activities, arts and crafts, health and personal development, foreign languages, business and industry skills, finance, computer applications, driver education, college preparatory, and multiple online courses.

Classes start next week! Registration hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

A public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1:00PM in the Katy Independent School District Educational Support Complex, Room 1200 ADF located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas regarding the ESEA Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, IDEA B Special Education, Perkins (CTE) and High School Accelerated Instruction programs as implemented in the 2018-2019 school year as well as proposed for 2019-2020 school year. The staff and the public are invited to comment on these programs. A written statement for the record must accompany all comments made. In addition, parent surveys have been created to gather input on these programs.

Spring Senior Shirt

The senior class will be selling their spring short sleeve shirt for pre-order starting on Monday, April 1. The shirt is being pre-sold for $12 cash in the senior office.

The final day to order will be Friday, April 12th. A minimum of 50 shirts must be sold to place an order.

Prom Ticket Price Announcement

Prom tickets will officially go on sale on April 1st.

Students are encouraged to purchase their prom tickets early for the lowest price. Due to our fundraising efforts over the last 3 years, we are able to sell prom tickets at an incredibly low starting point.

Starting April 15th, an admin fee will be added to underclassmen and outside guests. This fee will not be added on for students who purchase tickets before April 15th.

Guest forms must be turned in at time of purchase. Tickets are sold cash only!

If tickets remain on the day of, they can be purchased at the door for $100.

Prom King and Queen Nominations

Nominations for Prom King and Queen will begin on Monday during all lunches.

Prom court nominees must:

Have all fines and fees paid off

Not have had any level 3 discipline infractions including ISS, OSS, or OAC placements

Not have been on homecoming court

Be in good standing with attendance and grades

Each senior is eligible to nominate 1 King and 1 Queen. To make a nomination you must have your student ID. Please see Mr. G during your lunch to make a nomination.
