Phalen Flyer
PLA@George H. Fisher School 93
Greetings PLA Families,
Happy fall! What a roller coaster of weather this week! Heat and humidity to start and jackets and sweatshirts to finish. Our scholars have been working hard this week! We started NWEA testing on Monday. This assessment gives our teachers a baseline score for each scholar and provides a roadmap for academic success throughout the year. They will take this assessment again in January and May.
Be on the lookout for our Parents-In-Touch letter. Many of you have already returned this to school. Thank you! I will be sending home a confirmation note with your time included on Tuesday, October 4th along with your scholar's weekly progress report. We would love to meet with every scholar's parent/family on October 12th during this special event.
In addition to our conferences, we will have a table set up at school on October 12th to recruit parents that might be interested in joining our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). We value your input and would love to have you join our mission at school to providing an outstanding education to all scholars.
PLA@93 will be hosting a parent workshop on suicide prevention from 5-6pm on Thursday, September 29th. An RSVP was sent home this week. Simply return it to school if you are interested in attending.
I have received requests to include the school lunch menu in the weekly flyer. You will see a menu posted below for your convenience.
Please note that if you signed up for Scouts, the start date has changed. Scouts will now begin their programming on Monday, October 24th. Fran Smith, the program director, will be reaching out to families that have already enrolled.
We are considering before & after school care options at PLA93. We want to hear from you! Use the link below to complete our survey.

Parent ESSER Survey
Parents, we need your help. PLA93 has received money from the federal government and we would appreciate your input as to how you would like this money spent. ESSER is a stimulus and emergency COVID relief funding stream authorized as part of the CRRSA Act enacted on December 27, 2020. This additional funding stream is intended to help states and school districts safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students. We are working to hear the voice of our stakeholders when determining use of funds. The allocations are only designated for very specific areas. Please provide us your feedback no later than December 23, 2022 using the following link: https://www.phalenacademies.org/essersurvey
