Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
I want to begin by thanking all of the parents and community volunteers who assisted us at Career Day a week ago. K-1 students went outside to visit Careers on Wheels. Students in grades 2-5 had speakers in their classrooms. We always have a great group of parents who support this school initiative. I was most proud of the way our guests spoke about our students to me personally after their visit. Thank you, also, to our Peacekeepers for guiding our guests around the building and to Ms. Lundy for coordinating the event. Please see a few photos below.
Last week, we also celebrated the 100th day of school. Our kindergarten team paraded through the school dressed as centenarians as per our normal tradition. Our students looked absolutely adorable! Please enjoy a few pics of the day below.
As a reminder, Math Night is rescheduled to next Thursday, 2/15. I hope you plan to attend as a family. Family partnerships are so important to us and we love having parents in our building learning about the curriculum your students encounter daily.
Looking ahead to our Digital Learning Day on March 9th, our teacher teams are already prepping assignments. A few guidelines I would like to make you aware of include:
*K-2 students will have no more than 90 minutes of work.
*3-5 students will have no more than 3 hours of work.
*Assignments will be digital and non-digital.
*All assignments will be due no later than Wednesday, March 14th. This means if you are away from wifi over the weekend, you still have three additional school days to complete the task.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your teacher in advance. We feel the bullet points above are completely reasonable and we look forward to trying this innovative way to make up a school day without having our students in the building.
Math Night Thursday, February 15th, 2018
On Thursday, February 15th , parents and students are invited to drop in for Math Night at CCES between 6:00-7:00pm. Math Night is an opportunity for parents to experience a variety of hands-on math activities with your child in a casual, cooperative and fun environment.
Want a few more reasons to come to Math Night besides the fun and games for the kids? Nothing Bundt Cakes, a CCES Business Partner, is providing delicious, fresh-baked winter goodies for all to enjoy! Hot chocolate will also be served.
If you would like to learn more about private, in-home tutoring options, CCES Business Partner, the Math Tutor Network, will be here too. Their services provide certified Fulton County teachers for help with Math, Reading and other subjects!
Additionally, a representative from McGraw Hill will be in the Media Center to answer questions about the math textbook and resources.
