Important Information
Athletics: 5th & 6th grade students are eligible for participation in athletics. No athlete may begin practice without a sports physical on file. Visit Final Forms to complete registration for athletics. Sixth graders who will ride the bus from school to Webo for athletics will ride their regular bus. If they are not a bus rider, arrangements should be made with the transportation department (lisa.pearson@webo.k12.in.us) to get an assigned bus for shuttle from Thorntown to Webo.
Arrival & Dismissal: The first few days are very exciting for our students, so to help things go smoothly, it is important for them the nail down important details about arrival and dismissal. Always make us aware of changes with dismissal as early as possible, so we have time to prepare your child before sending students home.
Grab and Go Breakfast will be served at 7:40 each day. Students may grab their breakfast as they head to class. We will work with our younger students and new students the first few days to help them get the routine down before they will do it on their own. The tardy bell rings at 7:55.
Car riders should be dropped off at the southeast door. Pull in the parking lot just east of the building by the baseball fields, and drop off along the sidewalk. A staff member will be there each morning to greet you. Please do not release students from your car until the staff member is present. The line will move quickly, if students exit vehicles as soon as you are lined up along the sidewalk. Talk to your child about walking down the sidewalk and being alert to others who are dropping off. PLEASE NOTE: No car traffic is permitted inside the front circle during arrival or dismissal. For student safety, we ask that ONLY families who also need to drop off at Western Boone Jr/Sr High utilize the car drop off line in front of our building. This will greatly reduce the car traffic for our walkers and bike riders, making it a safer start for all.
At dismissal, we coordinate the process to safely release bus riders, walkers, and car riders. Walkers are dismissed after buses have left the area. Car riders will begin loading at 2:40. The car rider line is long, but we are typically loading our last student by 2:55. Car rider traffic should line up along Market Street. Please respect the others in line and refrain from cutting in at the crossroads. Be sure anyone picking your child up in the car rider line is familiar with the procedure. When weather permits, some parents choose to walk and meet their child rather than bringing the car. If you need to get your child from the car rider line and you are not in a car, please approach the administrator on duty and we will call for your child to come to you. We will not release students across the parking lot without a parent escort.

COVID-19 Plan: Click here to access the 2021-2022 COVID-19 Plan for Western Boone County Community School Corporation. This plan is revised as needed, based on recommendations from the CDC and the Boone County Health Department.
Mask Update: Currently, our plan states wearing masks will be optional, except when students are visiting our COVID health clinic. Please note all visitors during school hours must wear a mask.
Visitors: While we are excited to have our parents volunteers and visitors back in the building, we will not be able to have visitors join students for lunch. No visitors will be permitted in the cafeteria during meal times.
Lunch Cost: The free breakfast and lunch program has been extended this year for all students. What an amazing benefit to our kids and families!
We can't wait to do school with you again this year!
