His First Victim
He killed his first murder victim on May 21, 1978 he was 18 years old. Dahmer picked up a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks, good the man drunk and then when he tried to leave hit him over the head with a barbell and killed him. He dismembered the body and put the pieces in plastic bags and buried them in the woods behind his parents house.

At about 11:30 on the night of July 22, 1991, A Milwaukee Police Department patrol unit saw a partially clothed man stumbling down the road near an apartment building. The could see a handcuff dangling from his wrist. The young man reported that he had been threatened with a knife inside the apartment building. The first report to FBI Headquarters indicated that the police arrested a man named Jeffrey Dahmer at his apartment, where they had discovered numerous body parts belonging to multiple victims.
Soon after his arrest, Dahmer confessed to committing more than a dozen murders, and the torture and mutilation of his victims, and the abuse of their corpses. Even though the evidence against him was overwhelming, Dahmer pleaded not guilty by insanity. Following two weeks of trial, the court declared him sane and guilty on 15 counts of murder. He was sentenced to 15 life terms, for a total of 957 years in prison.
