Update from Dr. Leigh Anne Neal

Thanks to all of the families who participated in the Conscious Discipline classes in September and October. We have a number of activities coming up, so please be sure to take advantage of the parent only and parent and child activities. If you have not yet signed up to be a member of the SM PAT PTA, please be sure to do so. Included in your membership is the cost of many of the PTA-sponsored activities. One of our signature activities, BLOCK Fest, is coming up on November 16. Space is still available, so please be sure to sign up if you have not had a chance to do so.

The Shawnee Mission School District strives to offer high quality services through the Parents As Teachers program. Please contact me, or 913-993-6412, with any questions or feedback regarding the program.

Help Spread the Word about the SM Parents As Teachers Program

Do you know anyone living in the Shawnee Mission School District boundaries who is about to welcome a new baby or who has a young child? If so, please help them connect with our Parents as Teachers program, a voluntary program that offers personal home visits, social activities, playgroups, parenting classes, and various health-related and developmental screening. The early years of life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success, and parents are their child's first and most influential teachers. Enrolling in PAT is easy.
