Cohort 9 - Week 3
Week 2 Summary and Shout Out
- We were excited to welcome a guest speaker, Dr. Kelly Froehlich, AFSA class of 2010. Kelly was a state and national science fair participant as a student at AFSA. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota and South Dakota State. This March, Kelly finished her PhD after working for three years in New Zealand. Kelly spoke about her experience with science fair and how it has affected her life after high school. The students contributed great questions for our discussion.
Activation Week Report and Results from the FFA Officers
Activation Week was a blast! The Officer Team loved preparing for and playing the games with everyone! On Monday, when we played Pictionary our winners were Andrew M and Emily M. On Tuesday, we created some hilarious stories during our version of MAD Libs. Things got pretty competitive on Wednesday during our Virtual Scavenger Hunt; our winners were Jayda C and Jonas A. We ended our fun week with a relaxing schoolwide coloring contest(results will be posted soon). Congratulations to everyone who made history and came to our first Virtual Activation Week!
What's Coming in Week 3
Olson/Ness Math 12:
- Preparing for our experiments! This week we will discuss designing the experiment, measurement, writing a good survey, and data collection. Students will begin to experiment with google sheets and learn some technology tricks for organizing their data.
Leiding Agriscience 12:
- All about the Scientific Method! We will be taking the next steps with the project topics that should be selected
Nelson Social Studies 12:
- This week we will start to dig into skills helpful for the Review of Literature. We will look at evaluating sources, finding academic sources, using note-taking and citation tools.
Each class will have 4 pre-recorded lessons accompanied with an exit ticket and a possible assignment, as well as 1 live lesson (see schedule for live lessons).
Advisory will be held Monday - Thursday from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Advisory during week 3 will begin a more regular schedule. See more information in the Cohort 9 Schedule below.
