Can people walk in a straight line

Hypothesis

If people try to walk in a straight line while blindfolded then they will end up leaning to the side which will cause them them to walk in a curve because they'll be unbalanced.

Gather information

- May depend how balance the person is

- Foot by foot strides work best

- Myth busters did it, people walked in circles

- Many people say its impossible

- In the building works best

Instructions

- Get supplies (15 feet of masking tape, 1 blind fold, something to record and 1 chalk)

- Go in a large area (outside, gym)

- Put down the 15 foot masking tape on the ground

- Gather 6 people, 3 girls, 3 boys

- Rub chalk on the bottom of their feet, this will leave a track when they walk

- Give the person a blind fold

- Have each person walk toe to heel till they get to the end of the line

- Video tape them

- Look at video for results

Osbervations

-People started off straight

-Wobbled a lot

-Couldn't keep balance

-Girls stayed more balanced than guys did

-Girls stayed closer to the line than guys did

Results

No one in our test had be able to walk in a straight line blind folded.

Conclusion

If people try to walk in a straight line while blindfolded then they will end up leaning to the side which will cause them to walk in a curve because they'll be unbalanced. Our hypothesis was accepted. Some errors that may have occurred may have included if the person was either on the line correctly or not, or how balanced they were to begin with.
