The Cask of Amontillado is about the story of a man named Montresor who decides to seek revenge against a man named Fortunato who has insulted him. He meets Fortunato at a carnival, lures him into the catacombs of his home, and buries him alive.
Fortunato
Fortunato is really addicted to wine. The first time he met Montresor he was really drunk. He thinks the Amontillado can help him take it to the next level. At the end he thinks of Amontillado and only Amontillado. He lets Montresor get him to get even more drunk in the catacomb.
Montresor
Montresor is a man that is obsessed with revenge. He is insecure and sensitive especially about his family background. He said the reason he killed Fortunato is because Fortunato insulted him. The Montresors were once a great and noble family.
Luchesi
Luchesi is a monior character in The Cask of Amontillado. Luchesi never appears in the story but he does serves an important purpose as the bait to which Montresor is able to lure Fortunato into the catacombs. When Montresor tells Fortunato that he has a rare bottle of Amontillado for which he would like an expert's opinion Montresor suggests that he will visit Lunchesi instead of wasting fortunate time. Luchesi is an ignoramus.
