This is the first book of it's kind that was written about the experiences of European Jews during WWII while it was happening. Mrs. Zarabi recently read this book.
Kiki Strike : Inside the Shadow City
Life becomes more interesting for Ananka Fishbein when, at the age of twelve, she discovers an underground room in the park across from her New York City apartment and meets a mysterious girl called Kiki Strike who claims that she, too, wants to explore the subterranean world. Mrs. Zarabi would recommend this title to mystery and adventure fans.

This is the 2013 winner of the Newbery medal. The story follows Ivan, a silverback gorilla, and Ruby, a baby elephant, as their friendship blossoms and they deal with the restrictions of their physical environment.
