Room 6 News
December 8 - January 11, 2016
Integrated Learning
For the remainder of December, we will continue our holiday traditions. A few of the books we will read are: Corduroy, Wild Wild Reindeer, Polar Express, and Light the Lights! A few of the centers include:
- Candy Cane decorating
- Look for Corduroy’s lost button
- Story map for Corduroy
- Measuring, graphing, and tasting various kinds of candy canes
- Reindeer hats
During the month of January, we will be learning all about winter sights. We will start with penguins and learn all about their environment. A few of the centers include:
- Potato print penguins
- Penguin bingo
- Dress up and dramatic play with penguins
- Rhyming penguin-matching words that rhyme with “freeze”
Technology
We will continue learning all about coding! The students will be playing a cooperative game with a partner where they get to both "write" and "read" computer code. The code consists of action cards that the students will line up for a partner to follow. All of our coding activities are leading up to the children having the opportunity to code BeeBots to move in various directions starting in February!
